Not to mention that 1.56 is the human average. You have folks in the global south who are maybe operating at like .75 while Americans are like 4 or 5 (making those numbers up).

I'd wager if you go back another 50 years it goes up to 95% or some shit. USA used to be covered in old growth forrest, had millions of large herbivores, flocks of birds that would black out the sun for days.
