We are stuck in the belly of the machine and the machine is stuck in self-clean mode.

What am I - chopped liver?

      ---

In all honesty - I stole the idea of the joke from somebody else anyway.

I enjoy your tesla posting & the joke was good. I was just riffing on the idea that everything musk does is lethal. I think his arc is going to end with a lot of people dying like he is going to blow up Austin or launch a rocket into Orlando.

It's kind of astonishing how hard they're trying to remove one laborer from the "drive people from one point to another" industry. Even one "independent contractor" barely managing to eek some money out of a taxi medallion is too much.

It's a shame each driver can only transport 1-4 people at a time, imagine the savings if we could transport a dozen people at a time, we could fire 2/3 of the drivers!

Prediction: they'll replace the driver with a non-driving security guard/cleaner on minimum wage.

    UV-C lights and heat.

Hasn’t figured out robodriving in order to get the the robotaxis to the robosanitizing station but ok.

Building an elaborate sanitation system for our self-driving cars that can't self-drive is a paradigm case of bike shedding. You couldn't construct a better example.

This is a half-baked idea pushed out to because Rimac just revealled a robotaxi concept and Tesla is desperate not to let them have the SEO results to themselves, so they're flooding the search results with this stuff instead.

The world would be a better place if all Tesla vehicles lock the doors when they park, and sanitize the interior of all biological contaminants.

Imagine being in an oven. Now imagine the door locks itself and the oven goes into "cleaning mode".

it's ''sanitizing'' in the misanthropist, eco-fascist sense of the word

I could see this as a thread for a short story. One of these billionaires manages to have their company develop an actual AI to drive robotaxis, but the fascist ideology of this billionaire is so baked into the AI that the only ethical thing it thinks it can do is self-clean its passengers to ash.

    gets behind on Tesla payments

Tesla: Your vehicle is now in "impound mode". Locking doors. Engaging cleaning mode.

Everybody in the car: What the fuck does that mean?
