I've been seeing a huge amount of anti-Chinese sentiment online, from obvious places like reddit, to even misinformed friends on social media falling victim to viral posts filled with misinformation.
What are we to make of this? Is this the slow march to war, by portraying them as pure evil, à la the fake story of Iraqi soldiers killing Kuwaiti babies to help get the public on board with our military response? It seems disadvantageous for the US and their allies to fight China, as we are incredibly reliant upon them economically and don't stand to gain much from the conflict.
Are these the irrational decisions of a dying empire? Or is there something else at play?
idk, the left has been successfully divided on this one by the feds. its honestly surprising how easy it was for them imo
Turns out a lot of western leftists only listen to the enemies of the American empire retrospectively, and in the moment are very concerned about those aluminum tubes.
Cue leftists vocally anti-China right now deleting half their Twitter posts and releasing an op-ed titled "We Were Wrong?" In 5 years after a million deaths from an imperialist war based on blatant state department propaganda lies.

This article sums up why being against any part of China right now is bad. It's not the time to deal with the contradictions within China while the US and other western powers are tooling up for war (hot or cold, who knows).
Criticizing China right now is on the level of criticizing protestors for being too violent. There will come a time when those contradictions should be examined, but we can't allow them to become a focus of our rhetoric.

I mean yeah, but we're about to enter an imperialist cold war against China. The socialists of the imperial core have a duty to fully support the victims of imperialism no matter how much we might not agree with their revolutionary methods.
This is the same thing as Assad and Iran. It's fine to have criticisms, but don't let those criticisms get in the way of your full throated criticism of imperialist war.
Edit: Also now's the time to take careful stock of your criticisms and look deep at the validity of them. We're entering a time of overwhelming propaganda and censorship. Don't let your distrust of the Chinese government be a vector for state department propaganda.

Didn't say that. I wouldn't say they're being imperialist. I also wouldn't say that their actions justify America moving most of the Pacific fleet there.

Well I can understand why they might want military bases there with America encroaching and drum beating.

It doesn't matter what they do. If America decides they want to do imperialism and economic/cold war against them they'll find a reason. China's military expansion into the sea is probably the only thing keeping western fleets from putting ships directly off their shores.
The fishing thing sucks and needs to be fixed, bit of buying compared to imperialist aggression. China is doing a pretty good job of trying to shift to a more sustainable economy.

Ideally there should be a lot more cooperation between China and the other nations that fish in the South China Sea yes, but I'm saying those bases are a good defense against American aggression (which China has seen coming for a long time now). This is actually a topic I'm not very well versed in so I don't want to over extend myself. I'm open to hearing your opinion on it. Is China doing anything agressive against other nations in the south China Sea besides overfishing and building those bases?

Aren't they like creating islands in the sea? What's the deal with that? Are they also occupying islands that were previously occupied?

By forgiving loans? They're offering an alternative to the IMF. I don't think that's quite the same as western imperialism, especially when they aren't literally colonizing the area.
Nah, its made war harder by giving China an extra line of defense with airbases and missiles.
