    parents often call each other by the nomenclature their children are expected to use, so as not to confuse young children. young girl then grows up having heard her mother refer to her father as daddy. her parents had loving relationship, she wants loving relationship, she feels good refering to significant other as daddy, not because of the illicit relationship implications, but because of the standard set for what a loving relationship looks like.

      That's fair, I hadn't thought of it that way. I'm sure there is an element of that to it, but I don't think that's the full story.

      Maybe. I don't know.

      I think part of it is just memetic, another is knowledge that it's somewhat taboo and is therefore exciting to boring or repressed people.
