Israeli politics has been taken over by hostile right-wing forces. It's gotten worse and worse since the death of Rabin.

We love our Israeli comrades, same as we loved our German comrades in the 1930s and 40s.

Should we say unlimited genocide on Israel? No, of course not. That meme already causes enough confusion when it just says the 1st world.

Should we love our Israeli comrades? Yes, of course we should love all three of them.

We shouldn't be calling for genocide (and I haven't kept up with the site for a few days, but I've never seen calls for genocide against Israelis here) but uh

Israeli politics has been taken over by hostile right-wing forces.

Come on, it's a state that was founded via ethnic cleansing, in living memory. Most of the Israeli public fully supports the genocide. They're rioting in support of IOF's right to CW sexual violence

    spoiler

rape Palestinians with hot pokers until they're hospitalized

Israel is the "hostile right wing forces"

I understand your sentiment, and I've felt the same way at times, but something about learning there were only like three (3, in the whole nation) conscientious objectors to the IDF who were jailed for refusal to serve, and that the majority of israelis feel that the IDF isn't going far enough in Gaza, made me just fundamentally not give a fuck about what happens to most israelis, including the civilians there.

I have never encountered such a fundamentally unsympathetic people. You probably haven't either, and it's probably throwing you off like it did me.

It's not just the government dude. Israeli society is rotten to the core. They are a Nazi society. The average Israeli is a genocidal fascist. Very few of them are not.

As of polls from this spring, 95% of Israelis agree with the genocide or think that it's not going hard enough.

The Nakba happened almost immediately after the settler colony's founding, as if there was ever a time when Israel wasn't a right-wing hell state.

The Nazis folks, you gotta hand it to them folks, we love our German comrades going about their daily lives next to concentration camps. We have no issues with the ones standing idly by, passively benefiting from the extermination of millions, no siree, just those bad folks in charge, just the bad ones everybody.

There can’t be Israeli comrades because there are no Israelis. There are Palestinians, in what is Palestine, and there are hostile occupiers and settlers actively engaging in genocide. Zionism is and always has been a genocide project, there is no rightward shift anymore than the nazis had a right shift after the night of long knives. Far right to far right is far right.

Why worry about what online leftists post to vent their sorrow and anger in the face of that?

Is this a bit? It's literally a society of settlers; hell no unlimited october 7ths until there's no more of them left. I care infinitely more about the death of settlerdom (and frankly, all who hold to it) than I do about playing fuckin optics politics.

This rhetoric creates backlash too: Zionists will quote it and their political position will be stronger. You're playing into their hands by escalating the violence. The result is more settler violence not less.

"Dr. King's policy was that nonviolence would achieve the gains... His major assumption was that if you are nonviolent, if you suffer, your opponent will see your suffering and will be moved to change his heart. That's very good. He only made one fallacious assumption: In order for nonviolence to work, your opponent must have a conscience." -- Kwame Ture

        The Zionists have none.

this is ridiculous. those comrades you mention would probably be the first ones to say something similar

it's no different than saying unlimited genocide on amerikkkan settlers too, why wouldn't I say that?

Let’s not call for genocide. It’s a bad look.

It's absolutely wild how such a basic point gets lost because people want to keep a meme going that doesn't even look fully hinged to a lot of other leftists. Those are the stakes: it's a meme. There's not even anything to gain here.

Meanwhile, we'll all laugh our asses off at Trump picking an internet weirdo as VP

If you really believe this, then like 80% of people on this site should be killed as well, simply for living in amerikkka.

In a country of 10 million, many of those people did not choose to live there and many don't have the means to leave. They have a moral obligation to resist genocide, and shockingly few seem to do that, but the venn diagram of israelis and zionists is still not a perfect circle.

I don't think tone policing what is ultimately a meme is that important, but its worth discussing since clearly not everyone here sees it the same.

Assuming this is not a bit: Honestly I think a big part of being a good comrade is to know your "bruises" from your "cuts", for lack of a better term. Like, someone says something like "infinite genocide on Europe", and a part of me is like "wait I live in Europe, hey that fellow's talkin' about me!" — but at the same time a bigger part of me is like "Well, I benefit to some degree or another from an exploitative system that has caused untold destruction, death and misery upon the world, righteous anger is the only natural response to that and 'infinite genocide' is clearly just a hyperbolic expression of that righteous anger. If or perhaps when war next comes to this country, I would know that it was only because of the belligerent nature of an unjust system struggling to maintain itself, and it follows that I should take the progressive side of the conflict in whatever ways I can, and if I get caught in the crossfire despite having good intentions then, as Ned Kelly said, such is life."

Which is to say, "infinite genocide on Europe" is a "bruise", not a "cut". It's a statement that I can tolerate and that I need to be able to tolerate. To be so fragile about that kind of meme that I'd get offended over it would be to demonstrate my privilege loud and clear.

And I feel like for the principled Jewish anti-Zionists of occupied Palestine, that they would probably feel the same way. Like, they'd know which privileges they do and don't have, they'd know the source of the conflict and how much the occupation regime really cares about them, and they'd try to aid the Palestinian liberation, but they'd also know that the situation is just terminally fucked up — and they've somehow managed to make peace with this fact, which honestly cannot be easy.
