Disneyland pushes to reopen amid pandemic

Prager, DeSantis, Trump, and the rest of their liberal agenda need to fuck off

Soon Gavin Newsom will join the rest of these death cult liberals who prioritize profit over saving lives

Yeah, I was confused by this too. I mean the Dems are eager to get capitalism up and running too, but they at least don't pretend Covid-19 doesn't exist. Maybe neoliberal?

Maybe time to get off the internet.

I agree with you, but you went pretty aggro in that thread.

Yeah, it's just the first thing I woke up to this morning, and I thought I was in the twilight zone or something. I've never seen the term "liberal" applied to right-wing fascists. It has the same "language manipulation" vibe that I get from Republicans when they start calling Democrats "socialist".

And there were like three posts on the front page, all with the same tone, and it just tickled my spidey senses.

You've seriously been posting on chapo and never seen the Republicans and Democrats get referred to as the right and left wings of neoliberalism and/or market liberalism? You've never seen anyone who is firm in their support of the current liberal democratic order (in opposition to an anarchist/socialist/communist society) referred to as a liberal? Honestly, you accusing others of astroturfing the community when you're not familiar with basic terminology is kind of laughable. Clearly they didn't mean liberal as opposed to conservative, they meant liberal as opposed to socialist.

Also, in the case of the WaPo op-ed, it's kind of irrelevant that the op-ed writer is right wing, and arguably proto-fascist. It was published in a liberal publication (in the cultural sense), which validates it as something that's within the allowed range of discourse for liberals. Which was the point of the post to begin with!

Been here since almost the beginning, and never seen fascists referred to as "liberal".

I've heard plenty of "neoliberal is just another shade of fascism", but never outright "liberal", which has always been applied to libs, or those on the cusp of good intentions who don't quite get it.

Are we no longer distinguishing between evangelical, science-denying, white nationalist fascists and your run-of-the-mill libs? Is that how far off the reservation people are here?

What do you mean by that? Of course people distinguish between that, but when proto-fascists who still pay lip service to liberal norms are allowed to publish their opinions inside of liberal publications, then there is no point of making a distinction between those two groups on that particular issue as it is within the allowable discourse for liberals. I'm guessing that poster just didn't know whose opinion they were reading.

You and I both fuckin know if that screenshot was posted, or something Prager, or something Tom Cotton to /ShitLiberalsSay it would have been downvoted to hell for not being "liberal". You're gaslighting.

Is SLS the benchmark for the proper usage of liberal?

Okay, here's a post about the same columnist that you were complaining about:

Benchmark for how "liberal" is understood.

And that post similarly has the author cut off, so people voting are (like here) getting the impression that OP is saying more.

Anyway, I'm kinda over it now. I guess i'll look out for more ...liberal use of the term lol

OP cut off the author's name from the screenshot and labeled it "Fuckin liberals" implying it's a liberal take. It feels deliberately dishonest.

You're absolutely right, comrade. But I say this is Hanlon's Razor territory:

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

So I think calling everyone Nazis when they're probably just responding to "Liberal hate = upvote" is the simplest answer.

    This is OBJECTIVELY false.

The greatest mistake in history was when Dennis Prager was watching Cars 2 while eating baked beans in a movie theater and he accidentally spilled the beans all over himself.
