Trading stocks only radicalized me more. Lunch at a fast food spot is now over $15. Meanwhile it's possible to make a "trade" that nets more profit than a Popeyes employee earns in a day of work.
This can't last... or can it?
I went to a McDonald's the other day for the first time in forever and the meal prices were more than twice what I remember them being. A large milkshake was like 5 dollars! For fucking McDonalds!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if I get a time machine I'm leaving Baby Hitler alone and I'm shooting John Calvin.
remember when a membership was just a plastic barcode on your keychain? And not cpu cycles and a dedicated space in your pocket computer's storage (still won't work without megabytes of wifi, though)
Capitalism in 2024 means playing a minigame on your phone so you can afford fast food and groceries
CW: Food
Cheeseburgers
were 39¢ when I worked at McDonald's.
That was a Tuesday or thursday special when I was in high school.
I survived on McDoubles in college 8 years ago and they were like $1.09. now they are around $3.25
2 for $4 if you order in the app (aka sell more of your data for a discount)
That's pretty good but I can't eat McDonald's anymore anyway since and even their fries are made with bone tallow. Also I try to keep my data harvesting to a minimum after getting rid of Facebook, Twitter, etc.
To be honest, it's not even worth it or nourishing food at all. But I don't know what I would do for food if I was on my college budget these days
Protein bars are super portable. I wish meal bars from those meal replacement shake companies like Soylent and Huel didn't suck and weren't so expensive. Otherwise, I lived like 2 blocks aware from school so something like steams rice and veggies and a cheap protein wouldn't have been too far out of the question.
A shake? Milk and ice cream? It costs five dollars? You don't put bourbon in it or anything?
Every time i get a raise they make lunch cost more to keep me from feeling like I make enough to eat out a lot so I'm sorry everyone i got a pretty big bump a bit ago
I used to get a CW: meat
spoiler
Mcchicken and cheeseburger
For a buck each. And this wasn't that long ago, extremely filling lunch. Occasionally I'd get a small fry or Apple pie for a treat (also $1 each).
And wait until you see what housing looks like
Worst part is they haven’t even given us suicide booths because the future is hell. Let me do it first you cowards
its genuinely unfathomable how raising a whole fucking chicken and paying a guy to cook it can cost only like 15 dollars
the horror of capitalism lies entirely somewhere else but on that fucking receipt
Economies of scale are truly something.
I bet the total cost of that meal is something like $2-3 after factoring in the chicken itself, feed, time to raise it, shipping. Etc.
