Is it just me or are they taking a leftist route by portraying tyrannical government bodies, especially the US government, have to manufacture reasons to put supes in the army? And then the most recent episode, with the Nazi reveal, and white supremacist statement by one of the characters... idk

When i watch this season, i constantly think it's full of leftist jabs as well.

I was reluctant at first, as i found ep 2 and 3 a bit lacking whenever they switched to the Boys´ arc. They all felt underwritten at that point, but they immediately fixed that in the next episodes. Really love how this season has picked up steam since then. Also, their dunks on liberal tokenism are not only spot-on, i find them to be fucking hillarious. They're so good at deliberate cringe, and it's done in a way that really exposes what's wrong with the liberal approach towards IdPol, without turning white liberal feminism into a strawman used to dunk on all forms of emancipatory politics. It's refreshingly different from the usual southparkish enlightened centrism shit.

Also, the chemistry between Homelander and Stormfront is amazing. That goes for their acting, how they're written and how perfectly the relationship between them allegorizes how

the GOP falls in love with fascism. That scene where Homelander casually kills a criminal to impress her? It's scary how well that works as a metaphor.

Yeah, they were reciting a lot of typical tough on crime lines in that scene. It's exactly what a chud would tell you in the comment section under a news article about a crime investigation, and i think it was absolutely on purpose to have

        Homelander

talk like that. I generally get the impression that the script was written very recently and picks up on a lot of things going on rn. For example, Stormfront being from Portland may be

a reference to right wing militants in the Northwest.

There's also some moments where i think "oh, this is probably in reference to BLM" and so on. And Senator Neumann ist definitely an AOC stand-in, Homelander mentions her dance video and everything.

It’s good shit folks. I had a bunch of clowns in the chapo discord shit on me for liking it.

That painting of Homelander with the confederate flag cape was some real shit. I find the show so deeply unsettling at points that I have to get up and walk around for a bit.

Nah this place is cool and is pretty much like the old sub. I love it.

The discord oth is insular bullshit with the same 6 clowns talking to each other across all chats. Just seemed like it was filled with a lot of scolds. Not sure what’s up with that but I’ve pretty much migrated to here full time and I finally feel back at home after our long journey of being displaced across the galaxy.

I literally had to rewind a bit when I first saw the Homelander confederate flag painting. That was so fucking spot on.

I'm kinda disappointed how they write off American sins on ye olde evil Nazis tbh - but I'm overall still positively surprised how critical they are towards liberal modes. Also dig the overarching discussion of masculinity through the various boys'n'menly bois.

    Good show overall so far

It's keeping in theme with comics, while also taking a bit of a different path than the comics. You'll probably notice more vaguely lefty critiques as the show goes on :)

Even as someone who loves the hell out of superheroes and feels dirty as hell for it: Guddamn, this show is on point in its commentary/criticism/dissection of the overlap of superhero/celebirty meta culture and fandom.

It really illustrates how you can actually tell some real stories with some actual real topics within the superhero genre if you commit and fucking dare to do so. If nothing else, I love how it inherently criticises other media in the genre by doing that.

If they follow the comics then no, the comic end with the message "it was only a few bad apples in the goverment, the bad guys are only the company" :amerikkka:

I hope the show stay away from the comics, so far it looks better that the comics, like a solid 8/10 compare to the comics 3/10
