For this to happen, airlines and hotels need to allow free rescheduling for sick people

This tbh. It's like how it's always been with being sick. I have as much sympathy insofar as maybe that person couldn't afford to buy a ticket a second time over. But not wearing a mask? That's some horseshit.

Last winter I overheard a woman in line behind me at the TSA checkpoint saying "I was going to drive on that trip, but I didn't want to do that with the flu, so I booked a flight instead." agony-consuming

Is this sarcasm? How did you take away "masks are normalized" from this 😭

In any case, it's not like anybody gives me a hard time for masking in the airport, so there's no reason not to.

As the other person said, not totally normalized, just a bit it's just pre-covid if you tried to wear a mask to an airport you would get strange looks at best, but more likely pulled aside for a cavity search.

At least now I can wear a mask at an airport and weird looks is the worst it gets.

Had a guy with a heart attack. But, I was told, he died after being taken off the plane.

A couple other medical emergencies, but they all lived.

Look obviously that guy should be run over by a bulldozer, but I don't think there's any safe way to take a plane right now.

And then they wonder why pilot cardiovascular events have jumped 50% and spatial reasoning is tanking.
