This is (no pun intended) groundbreakingly ugly. Is the in world universe literally called the uncanny valley.
Also really sucks that apparently jack black is speedrunning killing his popularity. Weird to see somebody spend decades to become universally loved to seemingly callously try8ng to cash that check for all it's worth in as short a time frame as possible.

I would think you wouldn't want the public opinion of you to be "he's in this movie so this movie must be hot fucking garbage" but he's got about a hundred million more dollars than me so wtf do I know.
When story mode came out on Netflix as a choose your own story thing, I thought it was actually pretty good. Not great, but good. I watched it with my kids and we watched it over and over again. Then it disappeared and there's no way to find it?!
Was it making way for this monstrosity?

According to the pattern established by Sonic and Mario movies this is the ragebait "shitty on purpose" trailer and they'll "listen to the fans" and fix it up before it's released and its gonna do just alright in the movies.
Bad take. They didn't fix anything about the Mario movie and the ugly sonic glow up is still genuinely one of the most insane course corrections in movie history. Genuinely people don't grasp how insane that whole saga was and the idea that it was bad intentionally is nonsense.
