Remember, EM POC only!

I'm a very tired Angel right now. It's about to be 2 AM, but since it's Monday, I might as well go ahead and get up this EM POC weekly thread.

You know how it goes! Any EM POC vibes are welcome here.

Class full of white queer people got angry at me today because I reminded them that voting Kamala is endorsing genocide. Scratch a liberal, etc etc.

Why is intersectionality so difficult for whites? Especially queer people who can have it worse than POC? Like white cishet women I understand will have brainworms. Or white poor people. They still benefit heavily from white supremacy enough to look past their oppression. But white LGBTQ+ people? You'd think it would be easier for them to see past American foreign policy.

I guess I shouldn't throw stones in glass houses. It's not like my peeps are better about homophobia.

Unfortunately, a good deal of white queer people fall for the pinkwashing lib bullshit that happens too.

Eh, depends, prolly gotta do with how they unconsciously know how their treats and GLOBAL social class position is held, regarding foreign policy and unequal exchange

(eg. solidarity with extractivist imperialism or settler-colonialism, for the fact that their livelihoods are based on that)

Im back doing push ups. My partner told me they thought it was hot when I do them. (Obviously getting in shape is a good enough reason...my partner thinking im hot is a big bonus as well though)

A lot of people showing their ass after the racist comment from Ted Cruz, Vance, and Trump.

Waaay too many people are too comfortable making jokes about it and it's getting really uncomfortable to see how open people are to making light of something that has seriously alienated Haitians. There's reports of parents not letting their kids go out after night because they're afraid some white supremacist asshole is going to hurt them and all people want to do is post dumbass memes on social media. I would say that I just need to get off social media, but I've heard some cringe shit from people IRL too.

Tim Burton not seeing Black people in his vision, or whatever the quote was, is back in discourse and I'm irked. What are we even talking about anymore? Are we saying we want people who was likely never around much Black people to suddenly have them in their media? Because thats how we get Front Room and Imaginary. Convoluted messes of stories that make so sense.

There is something to say about Burton using this as an opportunity to add more Black people in his circle and expand his vision but until then, leave us alone! I'm tired of seeing Black people in movies where the character was clearly written for a white person, like in Front Room. Why would a Black Woman think you're lying about your racist mama?? It makes no sense, if my white partner told me his family is racist, I'm believing them no questions asked.

A former coworker of mine would call the holiday season 'racists season', since all the racist fucks would come out of the woodworksand say horrific things. Looks like its racist season has official begun, had some old wretch and her large adult son flip out about my name tag (I have a very Latino name) after saying it a bunch of times and then go through a speedrun of the usual shit, focusing on my name, 'you speak English well' before flipping out about some nonsenical conversation that prevented me from offering 'good service', I didn't speak to anyone before addressing them it was weird af and then while they left they started the 'we can't understand you' bs. A few customers later some old lady rants at me about the usual 'I don't know what's going on, all they do is hire illegals' while storming off since her return went poorly.

Anyway, I caught up with another former coworker since I'm on the job hunt (don't want to stick around for racists season if I don't need to) and I found out I'm apparently blacklisted at the local college between some whistleblowing I did at my old school and probably my tiny bit of student organizing. That's good to know, I thought such things only lasted 6-12yrs or so.

I did manage to find some teach English place online I may look at since I actually have a TESOL cert I never used. I absolutely need to get out of this job, I'm lucky to have it, but holy shit if its not a recreation of clerks its every 5th customer is a retailhell story.

Christmas already, have decorations and nonsense anyway.

In the near dystopic future, holiday decorations never go down and stay up all 12 months of the year, and the only music that plays in stores is off beat non-popular Xmas tunes, minus that Mariah Carey one.

Even at best, the longest-running Christmas in a country only starts at September, so that'd be an extreme change... then again, I don't think much of us put down our Christmas trees down, after tis done

Lol, wanted to be dramatic and release some steam with some doomy futurecasting. Have all sorts of non-work family trauma related to the holidays, so this just amplifies it all. I don't celebrate much of anything, too expensive.

There are Xmas themed stores that are open year round, they're terrible lurid places of wanton consumerism to visit.

Me mum got the coof after us avoiding it for the last 5 years 😑

And of course she's gone full boomer over it and won't follow all the protocols she should be. Like I have to keep telling her not to touch stuff even if she has gloves on. Or she gets upset when I won't go into a room while she's in there with a mask on. These things are not bullet proof. Then she thinks I'm weird for masking up with gloves when I went out to get us food. Like just because I tested negative and have no symptoms doesn't mean I can't spread the virus.

At least it's given me some time off from the constant microagressions. Having non-white kids is not cause to believe someone is anti-racist (I saw that conversation a while back about how to know if you can trust white people....just "lol").

Government forms scary, like I know it's money on the table but helping apply for family since a lot of them either don't know english or don't do computers is nerve wracking. Keep fearing I'll get something wrong but they rely on me so gotta be brave.

I wrote about 30 pages in the last 30 days. I’m writing an Afro-space-adventure-sci-fi thing and I’m really proud I managed to stay consistent. I don’t know or care if it’s good or even narratively connected. I have written 30 pages and that means I’m being a writer.
