IMPORTANT SITE REMINDERS ARE LISTED AFTER THIS RANT (so please read all of it in order to find the rules >:3)

On this mega I shall take the opportunity to rant about one of my favorite things: the Webnovel UNJUST DEPTHS!

Do you love transgenders?

Do you love communism?

Do you love queer romance?

Do you love killing fascists in a giant fucking mech?

Would a plotline with all of these things happening in a underwater retro-futuristic gundam setting intrigue you?

Especially if its actually really well written with good characters, rich worldbuilding, and a marxist leninist transfem author?

All of the answers should be: YES I DO or else I WILL BAN YOU

Since you obviously love all of those things then Unjust Depths is perfect for YOU yes YOU! It is DESTINY

The Imbrian Ocean is at a time of severe instability. The monarch of the vast Empire that spans its unjust depths (:3) is sick and nearing death, every territory of the ocean now vying to carve their own Destiny out of the chaos. From the Volk fascists pigmask-off , Zionists hamas-base (they literally will not die why are they still here oh my god), The 'Anarchists' (social chauvanists) lenin-dont-laugh in Bosporus, and the monarchs gui-trans of each vast noble domain, each vies for power and prestige no matter who they crush underfoot, but it would be a pretty depressing story without a bright light in the dark.

On the edge of the Empire sits the glorious Union! The (Soviet) Union soviet-chad is a socialist federation of three states (and one anarchist mountain left-unity-4 )that were formerly slave colonies under the Imbrian Empire until they broke away in a fierce liberation war. They have spent the last 20 years since then building themselves up. Whether they be Human bridget-disco , Shimmi kbity-how (Catgirls who usually follow a religion closely related to modern Islam), and Kattaran transshork-happy (a hybrid humanoid species with characteristics of sea life ranging from sharks to cuttlefish)building socialism side by side.

First lead under the revolutionary leader Dashka Kansal, then the Idealist Ahwalia who lead the country to near ruin in pursuit of building a utopia on pillars of sand, then under the scientific socialist three-heads-thinking leadership of the Grand Marshall of the Union, Bhavani Jayanskar (I love Jayanskar so much shes basically as if Stalin, Lenin, and Zhukov were rolled into the same person but was a black lesbian badass who wore the uniform REALLY WELL)(she aint the main character at all tho shes only in very few scenes i just love her so much). Under Jayanskar, the Union has been growing their economy to both eliminate hunger and give everyone a home chad-stalin , but also growing their military capabilities for the inevitable return of the Empire. The Union is alone, but with the people by its side nothing, not even Destiny, can snuff out true freedoms light. specter

As war wages between the Empire and Republic (basically underwater USA) once more over the lands between them, the facade begins to finally crack...

And a border conflict between the Empire and Union escalate, and the dreaded reconquest begins.

Amidst this turmoil, lives our main characters (yes there are multiple and all of them are lovely). Each of whom I personally love dearly, and are very well characterized. Many are soldiers of the Union, some are scientists, some are divers (mech pilots), some are lost strands finding new meaning after joining this band of Brigands

All are Communists steban

All serve the Union USSR

All would gladly give their lives to defending socialism comrade-stoic

but even they would have little inkling of the adventure set in store for them as the lands beneath the waves erupt in fire, fury, and revolt

Can these transgender badasses kick fascist ass?

Can they kiss? (oh my god please kiss ISTG THERE IS SO MUCH SHIPPING AHHHH ITS GLORIOUS)

FIND OUT HERE: https://unjustdepths.com/

please do or else I will pout incessantly

just try it pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase i need to talk to someone about it after Cromalin went AFK

update: apparently my legs have gotten thinner, maybe from all the VR??

the colours are not my usual black/black matches with black, so i'm having trouble fitting the first pair into an outfit, but they are comfy, we'll see if they stay up lol. hearing Safe Partner say the phrase "sockspenders" hurt though, that's a yucky word to me lol

This is my current understanding of how I process speech.

I get weird about the rhythm of certain words and really like a well-constructed phrase. Sometimes, when I'm upset, I can't really stop being upset until I find the perfect arrangement of words to describe my emotion, especially if I'm angry about politics or something. There have been some phrases or sentences on this site that the act of reading just feels like the best stim to me, like a head massage (or you know, other things that feel good...) for the inside of my head. If I can find the perfect phrase to express myself, or describe some jerk, or explain some emotion I'm feeling, I feel at one with the universe, everything is good. It's very helpful when other people better at writing than me can find it for me, which is a feeling I get a lot here.

I think "sockspenders" is yucky because it's hard to say! SOckSPenders is uncomfortable for my mouth, so hearing it made me wince a little bit. I think there's a thing of like "sock" + "suspenders" too, I think suspenders is also a word I don't like the shape of. I have no problem with the actual clothing item haha.

I have problems with idioms, too. There's just certain phrases that make me feel like I need to brush my teeth after hearing or saying them or something, like my mouth is dirty. Some of that is because I work for an American company and I don't like the (I tried to make a portmanteau of Capitalist and Idiom here but it didn't work), but some of it just seems to be an innate frustration with idioms as a substitute for "NT things you're supposed to understand" and the fact that phrases that are visual, such as "bee in a bonnet," immediately force me to picture them, lol.

Also sometimes puns can be psychically painful, usually I lean into it and enjoy the pain of a good pun, but definitely a pain response lol.

        (this is pretty unusual, huh...)

this is begging for an infodump here i gooooo

The things I enjoy the most lately:

        • Walkabout Mini Golf. This one is so good, Safe Partner and I swap off every other hole in the "practice" mode (since there's no hotseat) and keep score manually, and it's really fun. All the courses are super great.
        • Pistol Whip. I didn't expect to like this, I got it for Safe Partner. But actually, John Wicking all over the place in VR is kinda fun, even if I'm sore the next day. I think this is a big reason for suddenly being in better shape, lol. Some of the songs are kinda same-y, and the length and difficulty is all over the place in Classic mode, but it's fun to swap back and forth, taking turns. Dodging bullets, turns out, super fun. Haven't fallen over yet!!
        • Riven. Complicated feelings about this. I'm working on a larger post about this actually. All-time favourite game, blurry and nauseating in VR due to framerate issues. There's the short version.
        • Skyrim (with the FUS modpack). I like using a paper map and compass, going to do some dumb bounty, getting lost on the way, finally making it to a cave, being completely useless at archery and sneaking, and finally walking all the way back to the town just to make like 100 Septims, lol. It's a very different game with a paper map and when you choose not to fast travel. I haven't gotten back to it in a bit because life, work stuff, other interests.

Things I have enjoyed in the past:

        • Half Life: Alyx, I feel like this one is widely considered mandatory. I'm trying to do a playthrough of it right now but I haven't gotten back to it because madeline-scared i'm really actually scared of the dark and headcrabs and people shooting me and not being able to reload fast enough and the best part was when Alyx asked Russell to talk about something and he started going on about club sandwiches actually that really helped.
        • Into The Radius VR. This also has dark and scary noises, but no jumpscares. I like the equipment management mechanics, and just kinda exploring, even if i do accidentally drop things and have to go back for them, and wish I had three hands when fighting enemies. It's got Pacific Drive vibes, a little bit, which I really liked. I want to get back to it.
        • I Expect You To Die, this is very silly game when I played it a few years ago. There are sequels. They're like very unserious escape rooms, it's great.

Things I haven't tried yet but want to eventually:

        • Beat Saber. I know it's super popular, I just can't get over the $40 price tag.
        • Half Life 2 VR mod. I really want to feel what it's like to pick up that can. But for real, if you've seen my other post about my experience playing this game for the first time when I was little, you'll know I like this one haha.
        • Some kind of flight simulator

Things that might not be for me:

        • Blade and Sorcery. This game pisses me off, I get motion sickness really bad, and the devs refuse to put teleport in, so a game I asked for my birthday from my parents makes me nauseous. I've tried a bunch of stuff, I think my brain is just broken. Frustrating.

Re HL:A, I can't do horror too, so even though I have it (came with the headset), I have decided to just not play it. Not my cup of tea.

True, I played it on release and enjoyed it, but especially when I got to the chapter titled "Jeff" I couldn't take it anymore, so I begged Partner to play the game for me. Once he got through that chapter especially, I knew what kind of jerk Jeff was and so it was still really scary, but tolerable. Sometimes trying not to get headcrabbed makes me feel alive, ngl. (Sometimes it makes me feel dead too because the headcrab kills me.) And idk guns are fun.

Beat saber is cool, too bad I use linux and newer versions don't work on it.

I struggled so so so much to get SteamVR working on linux. AMD drivers would just keep crashing over and over, I thought my power supply was dying, my card was dying... I tried the open-source Monado stack (with Envision-XR) and while that worked pretty well, the hand transforms in HL:A were rotated wrong so I had to bent my wrists painfully to aim. Such a silly reason to be stuck.

I spent weeks on it. Even ended up buying an nvidia card (my dad is retiring and it wsa nearby his birthday, so I wanted to give him a present anyway, and the 6800 XT I gave is a really really good card as long as he doesn't do VR which he doesn't lol) even and still I was frustrated trying to get it working (although the nvidia card didn't crash, it would be really stuttery since there's no motion smoothing and async reproj I think is still broken??). SteamVR fucking kinda stinks on Linux still, I ran into all sorts of bugs, like a new one every day. I did GPU passthrough in a win10 Enterprise IOT LTSC VM (with an absolutely broken set of policies and tweaks lol f MS) for a week or so, but there would be random crashes. So, for the first time in like 5 years, I dual boot (I used an LTSC guide that I'm not sure I'm allowed to post here)

I don't remember having any such major issues with Linux+VR on an AMD 6700 XT. Maybe I'm just not remembering it and I did have some, maybe it's because I'm used to some difficulty, but I think I'd remember if I had that much problem. Ah Linux...

I might go out and buy a new card though, cus mine keep crashing. If I'm lucky it's not too bad and KDE catches it and restarts stuff and things are fine, but sometimes getting thrown out to SDDM/login screen and all programs being terminated isn't fun. Neither is having to wait for KDE restarting stuff.

inside-im-crying oh that's nice. yeah i was getting system lockups. no idea why.

actually, this was the issue. 90% of the time, it would crash at launching VR, or midway through, or whatever. i was only able to get it working by severely downclocking the card. then i looked at the amdgpu bug tracker, saw how many open crash tickets there were ... and somehow decided to double down on this VR thing. beh. i would probably call myself Expert Level Linuxer, and this stumped me. I had many late nights trying to find consistent error messages, searching for things online, poring over kernel logs, trying different AMD drivers, ugh.
