You know all those holocaust and genocide scholars, international law experts and lawyers and human rights organizations calling this a genocide? They're not being analytically precise and are too emotional, never mind the fact that they're experts on the topic
It doesn't even matter what scholars think, looking at israel rhetoric is enough to see intent and satellite photos to see extent, you don't need to be an expert to see thing for what it is
Says a country is carpet bombing population centers of another country that has been oppressed by the carpet bombers for decades
"Not totally sure this is appropriate to call genocide"
Genocide, noun: the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group.
I dunno, maybe they're not trying to destroy Palestine or kill Palestinians indiscriminately, they've only been stealing the land for decades and killing them without cause for as long, but surely Israel hasn't stolen THAT much land
ShowSee, Palestinians still have SOME places to live
Fucking clown-ass, wanna-be leftists.
The siege of Leningrad was genocide. I despise the monopolization of accurate words for political purposes. The people who are scared of “free parking” signs should not be dictating to reasonable people what words mean, but here we are.
We can only officially call it a genocide after it's been completed. Otherwise how can we know for sure!
Alternatively we can say that because the US gave its indigenous population reservations to live on that means it's not genocide!
Absolute fucking clowns
The coldly rational take is the same as the "alarmist" take you nazi pieces of shit, multiple legal bodies have declared it a genocide
yep, euphemistic passive voice is apparently more "analytically precise" while clear and well-defined explicit language is "emotionally charged alarmism"
Israel takes a bunch of land and displaces hundreds of thousands of people during the Nakba.
Continues taking land and displacing people and building settlements for decades after.
Many if not most of these refugees and their descendants end up in Gaza.
Israel proceeds to destroy pretty much everything in Gaza killing hundreds of thousands and making the place close to unlivable for millions.
Palestinians flee en masse.Even the slightest reading of history shows this is just a continuation of the ethnic cleansing that started in the 40’s.
I'd call them nerd trots but this is an insult to nerdy trots who usually can recognise a genocide without rules lawyering it with "But there's still 13 of them left hiding in a cave on the other side of the world so it's not really a genocide is it?"
And from the point of view of my colon they're not that...no, even then, they are really, really full of shit
Literally one of the steps of genocide is denying that it ever happened. So “it’s not genocide” ain’t helping your case.
If you need to be a pedantic shit about it, just coin new terms. What Germany did to the Jews was an internal genocide. What Israel is doing to Palestine is a settler colonial genocide. Now we have terminology sufficient to get through a whole miserable book on the subject, and it took a quarter as many words as that spineless equivocating nonsense.
I’d argue that the holocaust was also settler colonial in nature. Germany was stealing the land of its neighbors in order to destroy their culture and people, and replace them with German settlers. The holocaust was the engine of this cultural and demographic erasure and was key to their colonization plans. It operated internally too of course but I thought I’d point that out
most of the deaths of the holocaust weren't in Germany itself but in Poland and other occupied territories
we put out an interview with a Palestine flag on the front, why are you getting mad at me? I'm allowed to say any dumb shit I want now.
i mean nlr is not exactly bastion of zionism, so it's kinda wild thing to appear there. (they have other dogshit takes as well though). But this is something new
having a good take in the past does not make one immune from being wrong in the future, it's an incoherent argument they are making
