Selfish condo-sniffer dog owners letting their dogs shit and piss everywhere reeking the place up, you aren't getting away on the individual responsibility argument. Pick up that poop or you're just as bad as the rest of them.

You WILL sleep in the dog bed.

    You WILL sniff the crotches.

You WILL eat the poo of other dogs you pass on the street.

I would run out of bags in 15 minutes if I picked up every dog poop I walked by.

Thesis: Anyone who owns a dog is obligated to pick up any dog shit they see

Antithesis: Owning a dog does not mean you have to pick up another dog's shit

Synthesis: You should dress up like a dog and shit in the street, then clean it up yourself

    Did I do that right?

Yeah nobody chose to "pick up poop" in general. Conscientious dog owners chose to pick up their own dog's poop.

if people have to be "conscientious", a bar clearly very few people meet, in order for their hobby to not scatter animal feces everywhere then perhaps that hobby should be banned

Perhaps nobody should be permitted to hold objects in their hands in public, because unconscientious people will discard their trash in public, causing litter.

Nah, just expect people to clean up after their dogs.

I did not opt in to dog owners letting their emotional support creatures use my building & neighborhood as a toilet, personally I think dog ownership should be banned entirely but I will settle for you making it not quite as dogshit for the rest of us

yes you are, because you are both dog owners. there is no way absent genetic testing to tell which poop came from which dog. thus the burden of blame falls equally on all of you.

Ridiculous argument, there's no way for me to know you didn't discard the Gatorade bottle on the street outside, so again, you can't have food or drink outdoors anymore.

dog shit is much more disgusting than a plastic gatorade bottle and most commonly-encountered trash, which I routinely will myself pick up

regardless I see dog shit far more often than I see actual litter like that.

It's biodegradable, unlike plastic trash which is poisoning all of us.

which I routinely will myself pick up

Yeah me too, even though I'm not responsible for it or required to.

Irrelevant, also anecdotal, I see the opposite.

this doesn't track for me because we don't hold other groups collectively responsible for eg. maintaining a car or cleaning up litter. it would track with me that we all clean up our environment as much as we personally can and then hold responsible the ones who actually generate and neglect to clean rubbish, dog poop, etc.

        condo sniffer hobby

Humans domesticated dogs tens of thousands of years ago. People in apartments, trailers, suburbs, rural areas, homeless people and probably people in any other kind of housing situation I'm not thinking of all have dogs. Hunter gatherers had dogs. Keeping dogs as companions predates civilization.

Nope, because hypercracker's expectation is not that dog owners clean up behind their own dogs, it's that they should have to clean up behind everyone's dogs.

He's offered no actual reason for it.

I will happily clean up the poop of some service dog since they are necessary for certain people to function but I am not going to clean up the poop of someone who bought a service dog vest for five bucks on alibaba and whose dog leapt at me as I walked by

Well since the service dog isn't having its poop DNA tested I guess you'll have to start cleaning all of it to be safe.

My dog has a bad habit to trying to eat human poop. Why is there human poop in public? Probably because there aren't any public bathrooms in ~2 mile radius, so people and dogs be pooping and not picking it up. So really anyone in public should be required to carry poop bags in case they need to pick up their own poop or someone else's, be it human, dog or otherwise.

I think it'd be more effective in the long run if lazy owners who got caught get disciplined in some way. Having others do it for them doesn't solve the core problem and they'll just keep doing it.
