I'm pretty good at picking things up from context, so I'm gonna say a tankie is someone opposed to the deployment of tanks against a captive civilian population, the police having tanks, and tanks' worth of tear gas being used on peaceful protestors?

(please don't reply with earnest answers to my question, thx)

EDIT - some of y'all are failing to follow this last instruction smdh

During WWII, USSR armor crews, in their patriotic zeal to defeat Nazism, voluntarily took estrogen which was thought (and was later proven) to increase combat capabilities. These trans supersoldiers were the first to liberate Berlin. Thus we to this day call estrogen tank-E in their memory

The people in the picture are

Row 1: Neslon Mandela, Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, Ho Chi Minh, Assata Shakur, Angela Davis

Row 2: Huey P. Newton, Thomas Sankara, Amílcar Cabral, W. E. B. Du Bois

Row 3: Kwame Ture, Paul Robeson, Leila Khaled, Malcolm X, Yuri Kochiyama, Fred Hampton

I knew most of these figures from before, but there were a few where I knew the name but not the face, or the face but not the name, or had never heard of them at all.

It refers to Karlin Tank a 20th century ballet dancer and political figure in the USSR who advocated for distributing free copies of his book "Hegelian Dialectics in the Ballet World of 1962" to the masses. In which he advocates for finding Alien life by any means necessary and forcing them to watch ballet until they reveal their technological secrets. BUT the word has really lost its meaning lately tbh...

Originally, tankie was a derogatory term for people who defended the deployment of tanks against civilians but the term has lost its meaning over time. Now, you'll get called a tankie for merely saying that China isn't the evil boogieman that fascists want us to believe it is. And the irony is that the libs calling us tankies are the ones who support Israel's genocide of Palestine.

Its what happens when you eat too many beans too fast, you become a "gas" tankie

    spoiler

Its when you dump all your points into defense and endurance, you can "tankie" all the damage from the aggro.

    spoiler

Its where all your poo and pee go when you don't have city sewage and you flush the toilet, the "septic" tankie

    spoiler

Its a cute way to describing a large container for holding water for livestock, a "stock" tankie.

It's the phonetic spelling of Tank-E. Which refers to the large tanks of estrogen we all have on our backs to breathe and sometimes turn everybody trans.

It's short for 'TrueYankee' and refers to members of /r/yankee who left in disgust for it's insufficient patriotic bloodlust and broke off to form their own sub
