I have literally never upvoted or downvoted someone on Reddit or Chapo, and I'm surprised Chapo kept such a loathsome feature of Reddit. Every time I read about someone giving judgment on whether they'll upvote or downvote someone, I imagine some Yelp reviewer savoring any little microcosm of their existence where their input actually carries any weight.
Just respond to stuff or don't, it's fucking pathetic.
Removing the visibility of likes and repost counts has been a big topic on Mastodon in the past and they've taken steps toward deemphasizing them. It feels wrong because it goes against the grain in today's world of social media and I understand why users would be against it because it feels good to get attention but it's actually ultimately good.
