I have literally never upvoted or downvoted someone on Reddit or Chapo, and I'm surprised Chapo kept such a loathsome feature of Reddit. Every time I read about someone giving judgment on whether they'll upvote or downvote someone, I imagine some Yelp reviewer savoring any little microcosm of their existence where their input actually carries any weight.

Sure, mistakes happen. But only in exceedingly rare circumstances will I undo a downvote. If you would like to issue an appeal, shoot me a private message explaining what I got wrong. Removing the visibility of likes and repost counts has been a big topic on Mastodon in the past and they've taken steps toward deemphasizing them. It feels wrong because it goes against the grain in today's world of social media and I understand why users would be against it because it feels good to get attention but it's actually ultimately good.
