    How long until they straight up call for trans concentration camps? I give it 2 months.

      from what I understand, we are overrun with TERFs mostly because 2nd wave feminism was broadly successful here, so we didn't have a real 3rd wave and most of the 2nd wavers hate trans women and refuse to believe that trans men exist/think they are "cheating the system"... not entirely sure of their views on enbies, but i assume it's bad.
      and non-TERF transphobia is big here because this place is full of complete dickheads, for every person that isn't shitty to/about trans people, there are like 3 who are
      Our lefty orgs are also filled with these shitheads, though i've heard good things about some of the new ones

    Damn, that article was a riiiiide...

    The writer is also a transgender woman (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/authors/d/diana-thomas0)

    Last few paragraphs:

    More to the point, we cannot obtain a single hormone patch, or undertake any gender-related surgery without written clearance from specialist psychiatric and medical professionals.
    So we really aren’t making this up.

    And many of us are as concerned as you are about the police allowing rapists to define themselves as women;
    or people who have just given birth to a baby claiming to be the father;
    or sportspeople who have grown up as men, with all the inbuilt advantages of male size and strength, taking medals away from female competitors.

    But still we want to be able to assert our own identities.
    I’m actually reaching the point where I wonder whether those of us who are transitioning properly should carry cards, stating so, just to protect us and reassure others.
    After all, if drivers, pensioners, students and disabled citizens have cards that establish their bona fides, why couldn't trans people voluntarily do the same?

    In the meantime, can I just make this request: if we moderate transpeople are reasonable in asserting our rights, can society be equally reasonable in granting them?

    And also, please can we Leave?

    (more transmedicalist brainworms inside: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/gender-neutral-bathrooms-womens-prisons-time-trans-people-carried)

    Notably some EU countries are instead removing gender markers from various ID cards.

      BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ANY FAKE TRANS PEOPLE CAUSING ANY PROBLEMS YOU DIPSHIT

      Fucks sake. Transphobic trans people piss me off more than terfs do.

    I seem to remember the Telegraph thinking ID cards were an expensive Orwellian boondoggle through the 2000s when New Labour proposed them (they were) yet in recent years they seem all in favour when it's for immigrants or trans people. Funny how that works.

        The slur is bad but the joke was right there. Trans men are men and trans women are women. Trans rights are human rights. I hope people can take it in a "we should own our words" type of way.

          oh no, I know, it's extra unfortunate because 1. it's very, very hard to write a trans joke that isn't offensive unless you're trans, and 2. this joke will become offensive as soon as this or something like it actually get implemented because, well, it's real then. I'm mad that I laughed.
