I'm hoping that he just fucks shit up so badly that the machine can't function effectively and breaks down without much overt repression.

they lack the competence and audacity of the dulles era but the MIC and intelligence web still run this show and they'll change or remove him before he can substantially disrupt their bag. that remains the safest bet in us domestic politics

firing every officer slightly in touch with reality to be followed up with wicked recriminations when the yes men don't magically deliver on unworkable promises

He's fucking up the entire military and I'm ok with that.

Here's my best guess at a list of candidates:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Q._Brown_Jr.

Commander of the United States Africa Command (he might keep a black man as leader of africom though) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Langley

Commander of the United States Southern Command https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvin_Holsey

Commander of the United States Strategic Command https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_J._Cotton

Commander of United States Transportation Command https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randall_Reed

Commanding general of United States Army Europe and Africa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darryl_A._Williams

Commanding general of United States Army Pacific https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_P._Clark

    Chief of naval operations https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lisa_Franchetti

There's a good chance he doesn't just go after poc and women though, he might just go after everyone appointed by Biden.

Wtf why isn't that link working it's literally being copypasted.

Here's the role instead. Click his name in the sidebar to get to the above link. I have NO idea why it isn't working.

Anyway I worked out the problem. Hexbear ignores the period at the end of the URL but that's actually supposed to be there. If you add a period to the broken URL after clicking it, then it will work. This is probably an obscure minor bug in lemmy @dessalines@lemmy.ml

Actually kind of worrying if he goes through with it; any generals not deemed "woke" will be those loyal to him. He'd be falling ass-backwards into setting up for a coup.

I mean isn't this how coups happen? wannabe dictator purges the military, military decides to coup them? Except in the US he'd probably actually successfully purge them bc everyone is obsessed with peacefully handing a gun over for him to point at their heads

I wouldn't bank on an appreciable level of intelligence and coordination from a group of people who are some of the dumbest our country has to offer - I seriously doubt they'd pull it off. They're preparing for an invasion of China, let that concept sink in. They bumble their way through losing wars and congratulate themselves on a job well done.

please, please, please stop mistaking unintelligent rhetoric as an indicator of actual intelligence.

There are smart fascists. Aligned with class interests, correctly seeing problems on the horizon, and dealing with them in the fascist manner: It's such a profoundly dangerous mistake to go "hawww they're too dumb to be dangerous." No. They're not.

Maybe they'll also waste time, money, and resources re-renaming all the bases and military equipment from their new woke names back to old timey racists.
