If you guys aren't Trump supporters, then why do you hate on liberals so much, and only liberals? It's always "liberal this, liberal that". You claim to be Marxists, yet you never say shit about the rise of Fascism in America. Where are the "Republicans this, Republicans that" posts? I'm not falling for your BS.

Hell, why am I even wasting my time on you people? Your kind is mad at the Barbie movie FFS. Fucking Barbie. Give me a break.

Hey, did you know that Republicans are, in fact, liberals? When we dunk on liberals, we don't mean "people with progressive social views," we have more progressive social views than the overwhelming majority of so-called Liberals. We are primarily referring to economic liberalism, the ideology which upholds and advances capitalism. Occasionally, we are expressing frustration with neoliberals, the current ruling ideology which has subsumed politics in the west and encompasses both the Democrats and Republicans.

Not like “people with progressive social views” dont harbor horrendous views because they havent completely shaken out things like racism, classism, or homophobia because getting that far means they’ll leave the warmth and comfort of their baby ideology they’ve known for so long and finally notice the bodies their comforts were built on top of

Isnt it funny how people are surprised by that? They think only 2-3 things about society and power have to change, then everything is perfect.

Conservatives are liberals. Liberals are liberals. Libertarians are liberals. Neoliberals are liberals.

Liberalism has a storied, specific history. It is essentially support for capitalism combined with a set of other policies.

The modern, politico shorthand liberal/conservative dichotomy is an oversimplification, represents a split in opinions among liberals, and demonstrates the the narrowness of the Overton window, although "conservatives" can often lean toward fascism and democratic socialists are sometimes lumped in as "liberals" as well. Hell, right wingers call communism liberalism. That doesn't make it true.

This instance is constantly talking about the rise of fascism. However, like much of leftist thought, many believe that the ineptitude of capitalist, liberal parties and their policies, especially when they are positioned as "leftist", actually help give rise to fascism.

For example, the modern dominant strain is neoliberalism, which was actually first made popular by Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and Alan Greenspan. However, neoliberlism has been continued by Clinton, Obama, and Biden. See the rise and support of charter schools in Democrat led cities, NAFTA, etc.

The rise of neoliberalism has coincided with the death of unionism and the stark increase in inequality since the 70s in e the US.

Also, most liberals, like conservatives, are opposed to socialism, which is seen by leftists as the most definitive obstacle to fascism. See the 2020 Democratic primary where all but Bernie Sanders were eager and quick to reaffirm their support and belief in capitalism and attempted to smear Sanders for his socialist beliefs.

This is also a safe space for leftists, and leftists are often most frustrated with modern "liberals" as you know them (i.e. Democrats, Blairite Labour, etc) because while they should ostensibly be allies in many situations, they are often the biggest obstacle in our way, demanding we stand down and acquiesce to capitalist policies, and talk down to us smugly and condescendingly.

We already all know we detest fascists and "conservatives" and Republicans. We vent about them too. But "liberals" often get our ire in our spaces because of the above.

That doesn't mean we work toward conservative goals.

America has been fascist - I'd recommend the book "Blood in my Eye" by George Jackson for an explanation of how the US is fascist. Republicans and Democrats are both liberals.

        Also, I loved Barbie, lmao.

we literally screened the barbie movie on our site lmao. why would you assume we were mad at it? it was pretty good

Conservatives tell you what they’re about. Nothing about what they’ve done should surprise anyone. What makes liberals dangerous is how disingenuous they are.

Also who’s mad at barbie around here?

I lightly criticised it for what felt like casual homophobia and an accidental pro-voter disenfranchisement message.

If you view any possible critique as complaining that would technically be one post.

I really think we're constantly saying shit about it. If you need more material, I like this video by Second Thought: Why American Fascism is on the Rise. Yes, the Republicans are openly fascist and bigoted, and we don't support them.

Hell, why am I even wasting my time on you people? Your kind is mad at the Barbie movie FFS. Fucking Barbie. Give me a break.

It is true, weird conservatives were really mad at the Barbie movie. So you made this point because you already convinced yourself a priori that we were MAGA Trump guys, I guess. But ... we're just not, and I can't make that any clearer. You'll probably find most people here that watched it thought the movie was really fun.

Trump supporters are a mixture of liberals and fascists. Liberals are people who support neoliberal economics, like most democratic and republican politicians.

Bruv there are thousands of liberal politicians, I don't have time to personally condemn them all. Also I'm pretty sure the fascism in the Americas is like the main thing we talk about.

The US has always been a horrid settler colonial/imperialist hellhole, but I think it's a step too far to say that the US has always been fascist, or even ever has been, only because fascism is best viewed as a reaction to a powerful revolutionary left wing movement, and we've arguably never really had one of those in the US. Even at the height of the US left's power and legitimacy, I don't think you can really say it was in a position to seriously challenge capital.

But then again, fascism has always been a concept whose terms are a bit tricky to pin down, so this disagreement could very well just be a me problem.

Ever heard the term "liberal democracy" those are the liberals we are taking about.

"relating to or denoting a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise."

Republicans are liberals. democrats are liberals.

In the future if you find yourself confused look up the meaning of a word instead of thinking you know what it means.

Also I never saw anyone say anything bad about the barbie movie in this community.
