Damn, real missed opportunity to sell to McDonalds to pair with their onions. They could call it the McRophage and sell the result to the raw milk/antivax folk

And what they do isn't very nice

Hasn't there been quite an uptick in the number of chuds who give themselves food poisoning by eating raw ground beef? Something about it boosting your masculinity through magic or w/e.

Beef is known to be something you can eat with some pink in it still and be okay. Many prefer it this way. Some burger places default to med rare unless you ask for it to be cooked more

I'm pretty sure ground beef has to be fully cooked? Steak can be medium rare because, though the outside of a steak is contaminated, the interior of the flesh is clean. Burger, because it's ground up, becomes contaminated throughout all the meat.

idk I don't eat flesh anymore so maybe I'm out of touch 🤷‍♀️

It is recommended to avoid potential contamination but a lot of people eat it that way without issue. I think a big factor is how freshly ground it is before being cooked and served up.

I wouldn't eat a burger like that anymore but I have certainly eaten dozens without any issue. Moving towards no meat if not only because of the crumbling standards making it riskier each year

Yeah bacteria develops on the surface, which is why you can eat a steak rare - the surface has been cooked. Ground beef is all surface. You can make beef tartar though, so there are ways to avoid it, but you can't just glob down ground beef raw willy nilly
