Our entire society is criminal and I hope if humans live into the future, the history books condemn us.

A bet with friends over things is fine, but an entire industry designed to take your money as efficiently as possible with decades of research into human behaviour is not

Gambling on things is funny. An industry that is entirely funded by and predicated on making you as addicted to gambling as possible is not. Gambling on things is funny. Losing your home, food, medicine over it isn't.

Yeah. Last time I was dragged to a casino I had similar thoughts. Gambling with a few good buds and some drinks (and a reasonable budget that doesn't cause any financial concerns) could definitely be fun.

Gambling in a capitalist system means going to a place purpose made to fuck with your head and body's biological cues to entice you to become addicted, minimize or erase the mental impact of losses, etc. A ruthless machine designed to ruin lives, really. And it's so much worse because you need money for even the most basic of needs like healthcare, housing, food.
