My ny's resolution is to be more mindful of how I embody (or don't) revolutionary optimism in my everyday life

I love how we're always expected to prioritize whites' feelings about being called racist over actual racism

I love even more when self hating people of color prioritize their pet cracker's feelings over racism

One holiday where I got in a struggle session with my family over how voting for racists makes you a racist and I "really hurt their feelings" when I called racist crackers racist. I responded "I don't care. They could avoid being called racist if they stopped doing racist shit." I'm currently banned from my sister's house because I similarly shit all over my brother in law's crypto fascist bullshit. Again, because I upset him.

Nobody ever sticks up for me in these situations. I'm expected to tiptoe around their kitchen table klan rallies but they're never told to not say awful shit about minorities, LGBTQ+ people (which I'm not but have friends and other family who are), or poor people (which I am disabled and reliant on others to survive).

I've put up with this shit for years and finally got fed up and issued ultimatums.

Wow, what a fuckin' echochamber... no wonder some suburb-brained people criticize the inner-cities (because it ain't their world they're controlling)

You'd think it was Mad Max outside from the way suburbanites talk about the world. Our homicide rate is negligible and 99% of the time, the people involved knew each other. But whitey talks about it like a whole blonde haired, blue eyed family was gunned down in broad daylight at the Home Depot while a bunch of us cheered because the mom wished the cashier "Merry Christmas."

There go crackers whining about looting eventhough 1) there's been no reports of looting 2) people homes and belongings are on fire and 3) if the people belongings are on fire, store will be on fire and any product will burn anyway. Crackers gonna cracker.

Seriously if the store is on fire and no one is going to put it out, looting should be encouraged so things aren't wasted. Especially food and medicine because people will be injured any time there's a large disaster like this.

They care more about property than people. The entire situation is like this. They aren't upset at the death and destruction caused by the fires. They're upset it's going to affect their property values.

Exactly. This is a good time for looting EVERYTHING. Even non essentials because it'll burn anyway and people will have literally nothing afterwards.

I don't get why they always get uppity about property that is both not theirs and not near them.

And in this case property that probably won't exist for much longer otherwise.

Lying in bed and can't get back to sleep

I've never really articulated this thought out loud so here's to trying

As a mixed-race person I've always felt a bit more isolated than my other POC friends who identify as one ethnicity and obviously belong to that ethnic group. I present as maybe white-passing with an Asian tint [ethnically ambiguous].

Just kind of envious of most people, white, POC or otherwise who have a shared cultural background to fall back on, while I just have my general interests, leftyness, and dirt-poor upbringing as points of conversation.

Any other Hexbears in this boat?

Half white, half Filipino here. I've found more acceptance among non-whites than whites throughout my lifetime. Especially for family. Whites will never accept you as one of them because they believe in bullshit one-drop rules. It's caused a lot of stress for me because I get this weird imposter syndrome where I can't tell if I did something wrong or if whitey is just being racist.

I mostly regret not speaking any of the Filipino languages and the disconnect it's caused, separating me from that part of myself. My Spanish is shit, but I can understand certain things more than Tagalog (where I understand nothing at all). But in the Philippines, Spanish is the language of former oppressors, so AFAIK it's fallen out of use. There's so much I don't know about the homeland because I was raised outside of it among white devils.

Another struggle is identifying with other minorities in the US. There's generational trauma in my family due to colonialism, but it's nothing like the slavery experienced by black Americans. It does have some overlap with what Native Americans went through, but then their genocide was so thorough and all-encompassing it's not comparable. We have more in common with Latin America than we do with China and Vietnam, while also not being part of Latin America. So there's all these groups where our problems intersect, yet those problems are different enough you can't find the support needed (maybe I'm not phrasing this right).

When an African makes the mistake of filling up their belly, France comes in, opens it up and takes out what's inside, then it calls them ungrateful when they don't thank her for stitching it close.

My dad had a medical emergency to end 2024. Thankfully he got released pretty fast, but he was weak for a few days and still hasn't really fully recovered. Not sure that he will. Every time he goes to the hospital he comes back weaker. And the Parkinson's he has certainly doesn't help. And then work has been an absolute shitshow. Had an incident on New Year's Day, but thankfully no one was hurt. But all the paperwork and discussion has worn me out. Not that it has been too bad, but still. And today everyone is running around with their heads on fire because of some issue with some inventory we have. Feel so tired.
