I haven't had it in years, but it doesn't taste like vomit to me. However it is largely flavorless (just sweet) and waxy as fuck. Like it sometimes feels like I'm chewing a chocolate scented candle. Then I can go eat a more expensive bar of dark chocolate and actually get flavor + smooth texture.

The thing is Herseys was made to be a wartime treat. It's made to ration real chocolate. It's not supposed to be fine chocolate. It just became popular because it was cheap and good enough. Plus, I suspect, marketing. I don't know why anyone would buy it other than the price. If you want real chocolate, go for a premium brand or import.

for real chocolate, buy chocolate. Hershey chocolate is like two inches above tooties rolls. chocolate like.

It's not an acquired taste. Once you get access to anything else Hershey's tastes god awful.

Not entirely true. Other chocolates are better in many ways, but are missing that slight acidity. I wish better chocolates had it.

Hershey's is fine. Kinder is better, plus the name helps me remember that chocolate is baby food so I don't eat it too often.

It tastes like childhood which is good enough for me. Of course most other chocolate (read: more expensive) is actually better, but letting some Hershey’s melt on your tongue is 100% time travel to before I had to worry about how fucked up everything is. Dick Whitman doesn’t lie.

i love me some 90% dark chocolate, the fancy stuff. but i also, once in a while, crave a hershey's bar (with almonds, of course). i'm a land of contrasts, what can i say
