What do you think humanity's last post will be?
Something along the lines of "what's the planet gonna do about us draining the core? Lose its magnetic field?"
In Greg Egans Diaspora a civilisation lasts so long it thinks every possible thought it can and reaches halting state and builds a gigantic multiversal statue of itself containing every shitpost it ever had
It will be a cat picture drawn on a rock after civilisation has collapsed and all language is lost. We revert to our most primal of posting.
Is this a reference to something? If so, please tell me as I'd like to consume that thing. If not then this is a hauntingly melancholy sentiment that has really struck a chord with me.
The Secret History of Writing Part 1, 2, and 3. It only aired not long ago.
Genuinely really enjoyed this doc. Has great insights into how our various cultures are deeply tied to what writing systems we use and how forced changes between writing systems have been used to change cultures and national geopolitical alignments. Anyway your post just made me wonder if it was triggered by the doc that's all.
