Exactly! Obviously the kid shouldn't have killed their teacher, but it would have been an isolated incident (murders happen sometimes) if the french didn't decide to escalate by offending the entire Muslim population
Think it started with a group of kids telling their parents about the cartoon. The parents apparently protested and called for the teacher to be fired for being a bigot. Then a chechen guy, who was either the halfbrother or other kind of relative to one of the children, went and did the beheading.
Okay so look no one who is not mentally ill is going to kill someone over being offended. The fact that the French government is legally promoting shit extremely offensive to muslims and bigoted is fucked up as well tho don’t get me wrong. I just think it’s stupid to blame Islam for these killings when it has everything to do with mental illness.
I'm French and yes, they are half the population thinks muslims are different beings who must be forced into adopting "republican ideas" whatever that may mean, and the ministers are calling student orgs, unions and intelectuals complicit to Islamic terrorism

They were like early-1970s Mad Magazine-level humor, and probably way more right-shifted politically.
