You should contact the person who made that meme and help them correct their mistake: A gigachad would only use a truly glorious romantic weapon like the gunlance or switchaxe.
It's a difficult choice, because there's no best option - just whatever clicks with you. Stuff like hammer, greatsword and longsword are relatively uncomplicated mechanically and force you to fight deliberately. Do sword and board if you want a little more mobility. It's all really a matter of fucking around and seeing what items clicks before you start to get too invested in one particular branch.
In that case, go with the hammer. Hunting horn if you want to critically support your party.
I haven't played the most recent couple of games, but from what I recall, hammer is very straightforward.
