I don’t know if he has any shitty liberal opinions but I think he does good work by and large.

No, he's good, you can go pretty damn far back and it's clear he is some sort of marxist, possibly orthodox, most likely revisionist.

I've watched most everything he has produced, and the most lib thing he has done is distance himself from breadtube. And I am pretty sure that is to keep him from being labled as a leftist so that he can keep sucking people in who are not already radicalized.

His Antifa video was actually one of the major steps in my own radicalization

He's very, very Oxbridge Theatre Marxist and they have the flaw of being socialised upper middle/lower upper class, with all the associated blind spots. But he's a good bloke and I've not seen any critically bad takes yet.

Think he's a really awesome dude with great analysis, but the "pageantry" gets annoying. Don't know why it works for Contrapoints, and I can binge hour-long episodes, but with PT I can only manage 10 mins.

I started watching him more when he came out as bi because the monkey part of my brain reasoned that I stand a chance of mating with him

This. I haven't watched much of his recent three videos because of the goddamn pageantry of it all. Miss my Olly who'd stand in front of a bookcase and lecture :'(

I think she also has a more seamless way of weaving the thesis into the performance. PhilosophyTube feels more like a long-drawn charm offensive (please blink). To each their own. I might also be biased because I'd like to get in on that Contra.

It's been interesting to watch his makeup/skincare skills rapidly improve. His (imo) overplucked eyebrows have been distracting me recently, but it's easy to go too far when you're new to tweezing

They're definitely over plucked. Which is a shame, they're actually perfect.

same, i started following his stuff for actual academic content as part of me trying to teach myself a course my school wouldn't let me take, and as much as the transition from dry author summeries to the openly communist theatrics he has now kind of confused me, its always been fairly good shit. Watching someone radicalise on roughly the same time frame as me was nice, and since he always sited his sources i was able to take some of those as book recommendations and expand my horizons a bit. I don't really understand the shit he gets here.

He's my favorite gateway for Libs, definitely Marxist (prob revisionist tho and less focused on Historical Materialism) but doesn't quite have the intensity of us ML/ML-adjacent (idk I'm whatever Luxemburg and Lukacs were, pro-Vanguard pro-ML Orthodox Marxist is maybe an okay descriptor) and is willing to engage extensively with Liberal ideals

His Ben Shapiro is great too
