I don’t get why Ho Chi Minh isn’t a more revered figure among Western leftists. Successfully fought against Vichy and fascist Japanese forces in WWII, played the OSS, kicked out French colonizers, defeated the puppet post-colonial government and the US empire, and Vietnam would go on to be a largely successful socialist economy, independent, didn’t break during the collapses of the late 80’s/90’s, and the claims of “communist authoritarianism” against it are about the most piss weak of all nominally socialist states. All-around Chad.

Ho Chi Minh is one of the GOATs and seriously overlooked as far as leftists go. He really should be one of the most uncontroversial picks for being a fucking legend. Ultra famous people like Mao and Stalin made some pretty notable fuck ups, it's fine we're all human. But goddamn Ho Chi Minh was on this shit like he was looking in a crystal ball, even telling China to fuck off multiple times and was right to do so.

I think it might be because Vietnam is allied with the US for now while the other highly praised AES are sworn enemies

It wasn't Ho himself who saw the final defeat of the US empire on his land, but it wouldn't have happened as quickly without him.
