I don’t get why Ho Chi Minh isn’t a more revered figure among Western leftists. Successfully fought against Vichy and fascist Japanese forces in WWII, played the OSS, kicked out French colonizers, defeated the puppet post-colonial government and the US empire, and Vietnam would go on to be a largely successful socialist economy, independent, didn’t break during the collapses of the late 80’s/90’s, and the claims of “communist authoritarianism” against it are about the most piss weak of all nominally socialist states. All-around Chad.
Ho Chi Minh is one of the GOATs and seriously overlooked as far as leftists go. He really should be one of the most uncontroversial picks for being a fucking legend. Ultra famous people like Mao and Stalin made some pretty notable fuck ups, it's fine we're all human.
