I actually like it a lot.
How did you use your wise mind today?
I use my wise mind to use music to help create an environment where my students calm down after there was a fight on the unit. We listened to Sam Cooke, Nina Simone, Bill Withers, and Bob Marley.

It's kind of based in mindfulness, which can often be misused.
But basically, it's the intersection of emotional reaction and overly rational thought.
A nuanced idea that recognizes one's emotions as valid, but rationalizes them and makes room for action beyond emotional response.
For our students, specifically, it helps build the ability to recognize when their emotions are disabling their critical thinking abilities, and inhibiting their decision making process. For students in the juvenile criminal system, it can be a really helpful learning tool. But I've also found that it has helped me think about my emotions more, since I tend to detach myself from emotional thought.

Shit could you please tell us how? Those who espouse mindfulness never talk about its possible drawbacks or improper use, so knowledge of any oversights/pitfalls would be appreciated.
Just that it's somehow a solution to everything. Not that it's harmful in any case, and really does help a lot, but it's not a magic bullet.
