probably just capping how many tests are done each day. At least that's how I would do it

im convinced that they make the "positivity rates" go down by including negative antibody tests in the covid19 positive/negative ratio.

Very probably that. Whether because testing facilities are underwhelmed by lack of resources, or because this is directly done on purpose. Any way a disaster. Testing less when cases continue to grow is the worst.

i thought that HHS only was doing "hospital data" like icu/hospitalizations/ventilators/etc, and case #s are still done the same way?

i mean i still dont believe the #s were getting, especially florida (they closed down most testing centers 2 days ago lol)

Yea that's absolutely bullshit. The variance is even increasing because they're probably fucking with the numbers

it's not gonna be over until vaccine time (if we even get an effective vaccine). the numbers have been obfuscated and confused enough that most average people will start letting their guard down. USA leadership is getting the sacrifice to keep the markets going they've always wanted. Three months ago they thought they would have to get the populace to accept it explicitly on those terms (therefore we saw stuff like astroturfed and media-amplified anti-lockdown protests). Now, pro-reopening politicans and allied media have wised up and realised they can just muddy the waters enough and the average media-addled american will forget about the danger and willingly go back to "normal," thanks to our short attention spans.

I totally agree, but there's nothing to make me think that our leaders will put effective mitigation measures into place. not much is going to be done because they're waiting for a miracle vaccine that can also make a bunch of pharmaceutical execs rich

My lib bf whose parents were agains the Viet Cong even admitted that capitalism is what’s making America turn to shit (it was already shit but you know what I mean). Seriously this is eye opening stuff

There has never been a vaccine developed for a novel coronavirus. To this day, we have no engineered immunity to SARS or MERS.

Successful coronavirus vaccination would literally be that "cure for the common cold" people talk about metaphorically.

Vaccine time is obviously gonna blunt things, but I still don't think it's enough to "save" us. The only way it gets anywhere is if it's mandatory which will send chuds into an absolute conniption fit

Jared Kushner's plan is to repurpose those unmarked vans and have the DHS secret police drive around firing hypodermic guns into everyone

Also, don't just focus on the deaths. While that is certainly the most severe outcome, even people with relatively mild cases have long-lasting effects from this illness. Even if you're not at alleviated risk, getting this shit ain't pretty. It's impossible to tell what kind of net productivity loss this will lead to down the line but coupled with the rolling in of the economic depression this shit will probably haunt the US for a decade or so. Better buckle up

Definitely seems to be going up where I’m at in Idaho. Between the Trump supporters here who think of masks as Chinese Communist Tyranny and all the Washington folks driving over here specifically to not have to wear a mask while shopping, it’s not really looking good.

No, and I think it's worth mentioning that i have a coworker who's 19 year old daughter just had a fatal stroke several weeks after having covid. It's not being considered a covid death, but her case must have counted.
