Hold the Dems up and get Biden

Let the Dems sink and get Jeb

Not a lot of great options.

If leftists/progressives stay in the Dem system they're handcuffing themselves to never getting anything done.

Jump ship, actually be progressive, and let the Dem party die. No use being schackled to capital.

The democratic party is literally responsible for murdering millions, probably 10s of millions, of leftists if you think they are going to work with socialists in any meaningful you are completely delusional.

There isn't anything I can do once I've registered as a Dem voter that I can't do as an Independent.

          It's a false choice.

We're getting 4 years of gridlock minimum so I'm guessing this is over the possibility that the margins in the House are now slim enough for the squad to block the oncoming austerity measures. They wouldn't be able to stop it entirely, but it would force the democrats to cross the aisle and pass those bills with republican votes, while having to spin the bill against the most popular members of their own party. Mitch also has a lot of incentive to either block or demand concessions since red states already cut social services so badly that South Carolina is actually coming out of Covid with a budget surplus.

Nobody really knows how safe the safe seats actually are with that bullshit polling and heads are certainly going to roll in the midterms. So at that point the only option is to try and say it's the craaaazy lefties who killed the recovery and if we just got rid of them we could really get things done.

It's also a re-districting year and the GOP have control of that.

Dems have already tried to gerrymander AOC out of her district. They'll turn a blind eye to the Republicans doing it if it can result in them ousting progressives.

The Dems aren't worried at all about the GOP doubling their support with POC and bringing in all the lower income, working class voters. Instead, they are just talking about how STUPID those people are and that they are POOR. "Non-college educated" is the new politically correct term for 'poor and uneducated' from these sophisticated smug fuckers.

Just as I predicted, they're going to spend the next 2 years purging progressives and finding ways to get rid of them at the expense of the GOP embracing working class voters and making a big push for 2022 midterms.

The Dems are absolutely fucked. They won the presidency, lost the senate and lost some key seats in the house. 2022 will set the stage for a Republican sweep in 2024 and a competent fascist arising as a result of Biden and Harris' failures.

The elitism of the 'intellects' is disgusting. It's been like that for centuries. It wasn't the college students leading the Chinese revolution, it was the fucking workers and peasants. There's a reason so many 'intellects' during the cultural revolution had to be sent to the countryside.

glances at who won down ticket races in 2020

      Yes, actually.

Conserva-Dems will kick and scream and wail, but at the end of the day they need the Progressive Caucus at least as much as the Progressives need them. Unless the GOP decide to break ranks and start doing compromise bills with the Bidencrats, the Leftists control just enough seats to be a pain in the President's ass.

All this sound and fury signifies nothing. Primarying the Squad failed. Shoving a bunch of corporate goons into the House failed. Now all they can do is spit and cry and then beg for votes in two months.

The entire purpose of the democratic party even existing is to counter and subsume spontaneous left movements. If you purpose is to stop socialism, why would you work with socialists?

This is a party that has killed literally millions of socialists around the world. Lyndon Johnson was a democrat when they lied their way into the Vietnam war. Truman started the Korean War. Johnson also oversaw the murder of 1-2 million socailists in Indonesia, and it just goes on from there. "Socialists" are going to reform that? Might as well try to reform the Nazi party, literally.
Worse there are people who use the word socialist that belong to that party? It's disgusting.

Unless the GOP decide to break ranks and start doing compromise bills with the Bidencrats

You assume they want anything to change. They don't.

Now all they can do is spit and cry and then beg for votes in two months.

You assume they want to win. If they did they would have waited to come down on the left until after that race was done. They are TRYING TO LOSE so that they are forced to work with the Republicans, which is precisely what they want to do so they have an excuse to do absolutely fucking nothing. Oh, well they will kill people in other countries. They all agree on that.

Who do you think they want to work with? Socialists or extremely marginally further right capitalists?

You assume they want anything to change.

The US is staggered and failing. I assume a lot of people want things to change.

You assume they want to win.

I assume they want to be in charge.

They are TRYING TO LOSE so that they are forced to work with the Republicans

If you look at the folks that lost this cycle, they were right in line with Biden. Dems would not have been pulled to the left by Amy McGrath and MJ Haeger.

Who do you think they want to work with?

Themselves. Which is why they're currently throwing a fit at The Squad over the handful of House seats they lost. They don't want to work with AOC, but they do want to command the finances of the nation.

Oh, they want things to change, just not the basic neoliberal course of the country.

What they want to change in regards to the fact that they are getting completely hammered by china and anti imperialism more broadly.

They want to be in charge? How are they in charge if social movements and a few upstart congress people are calling the shots and trying to dismantle the way the country is run? They would FAR rather the Republicans have power than BLM or AOC.

And I know the folks that lost were in line with Biden and they don't give a shit. They are screaming that they don't care on a megaphone at this point. You think they don't know that? You think they are stupid and can't figure this stuff out?

As for the finances, would they rather have Republicans, who they agree with on basically everything or socialists run the finances who they agree with on nothing.

Look at what happened with Corbyn. The Dems will self immolate long before any serious progressive gains any power. And if you think I'm wrong, then enjoy your epic penis flattening on the night of the long knives with rainbows they do when the time comes.

These people ran a Clinton, got 8 years of Republican-lite centrism, and his VP lost to a H.W.'s cokehead failson. They reacted to this by running another Clinton a decade later. There is no way for Dems to lose enough for them to "learn the lesson" that they need to stop being corporatist goons. Its just who they are. Biden could have swept with his projected "blue wave" and they'd still be purging progressives now that the Big Cheeto is gone and the base can go back to ignoring everything else.

Eh, this article talks about people saying the party needs to go farther right, which isn't remotely the same as a Labour-style purge. We already knew they were going to push that angle anyway.

At the end of the day, progressive ballot initiatives won all over the place -- even in red states -- and the progressive caucus in the House doubled in size.
