Crazy how little we are doing as a country. Lots of blaming individuals, very little actually doing jack that will fix the infection. The disconnect is giving me whiplash
The ceo of disney quit his job one day after a meeting with Trump in february lol. They fucking knew.
The government/ruling class doesn't care if millions die (few people to have on medicare, or whatever), and the citizens of this country (all of them, really) are so brainwashed with capitalism and neoliberism that they don't realize it.
lower classes who die or become homeless in a time of widespread need is just one less “negative” number on their spreadsheets to calculate into the budget

people have no imagination, trust the people in power waay too much. "we have to keep the bars open to save the economy." or, you know, just pause rent for like, 4 weeks?
Welcome to Caution Warranted, a podcast on colonialism, disease, and the history of white people bullshit.
I'm the very thin peninsula connecting the mainland to the island of DC
I like it. "This color indicates where things are at least improving. Note that no states are this color."
vermont seems nice, id like to live there tbh. very left leaning and rejects typical neoliberal stuff in favor of keynesian economics and socialism, has OK gun laws for a left state, has some decent lgbt protections, and it looks pretty in the winter
You can do pretty well here as a tradesperson. Plumbers and electricians have been turning down jobs since April because they're so busy and so few young people want those jobs. It's not easy work but it pays well for something that only requires an apprenticeship. But outside of that, yeah, it sucks.
And your point on housing absolutely stands, it's awful with a near 0% vacancy rate. And now people are buying houses here above the asking price sight unseen from out of state. This also breeds a lot of moronic nativist sentiment.
I've been in Burlington on and off since 1990. It's a fantastic place to live. Lake Champlain is an absolute gem as well.
tbh a lot of states are that way now.. im at 1200 month in a really shitty run down 70s apartment rn
yeah i might be moving out to some bumfuck state eventually, idk. west coast is way too expensive
A lot of the South too. 580 was the rent for the townhome I lived in a few months ago. Very nice place on a hill.
That's New England for you. The political-economic situation isn't great by world standards, but it's better than most of the US. Basic social services/decent lib culture. But there's lots of Old Money and most towns are quite old, so housing is both expensive and decrepit.
smh why would anyone want to join a monarchic dystopia, canada should be dissolved
