        not sure of there still are, but when covid first broke out there definitly was. "Shortage" may be a strong word, but meat plants are not putting put as much beef and prices have gone up, so in comes this cheaper option that still also has beef in it. That's what I'm guessing.

          Slaughterhouses are one of the easiest ways for a mass outbreak to occur, so they've had to scale back the killing significantly. Maple's Leaf's plant-based brand (LightLife) tastes like ass, so I'd wager you're correct: they're just blending their bullshit pea protein into their beef to make up for production shortages.
