I don't know if it will happen this generation, but that business model will get phased out in favor of a subscription service. Not that that will be better.
That's only worse for games you want to play later. I can't tell you how many games I've paid $50-$60 for, played for like a month, then never touched again. Still, I don't like the idea of essentially renting these games.

That would be much worse because you'll have no way of accessing older games once they get taken off the service.
