honestly, if the "squad" or the progressive wing of dems wanted to stir some shit and flex their power, they could.

democrats have a fucking single digit majority in the house. if, say, the squad (is it 8 people now?) all decide to vote no on a bill without concessions, it would stop it.

lets see if they're brave enough (not holding out any hope tbh)

When's the last time the squad has stood up to Pelosi?

They'll fall in line, like always.

yuuup, hence why i said im not holding out any hope.

they have a lot of leverage though, could totally pull a freedom caucus/tea party if they wanted. a shame they care about the 'team'

Bernie could also fuck around a bit, especially if the senate ends up being 50/50. He won't but he could.

I honestly believe they threaten their families. Just another reason concentrating political power around single individuals is a deeply flawed strategy.

Pelosi's little "private meeting" with AOC where she probalbly just sat her down and told her how easy she could make "accidents" happen to people she cares about. Wouldn't surprise me that this bougie democracy would just be a thinly veiled mafia government.

They don't even need to do that, as in be the ones who are the threat. This is a country brimming with brainwashed, indoctrinated and armed sociopaths who've been programmed like Pavlov's dogs to respond to the word Socialism with rabid, spittle flecked rage.

All they would have to do is remind her of what might happen if, say, they started being rather critical of her socialist ideas in a public way. All it'd take after that is someone to mess up and send sensitive info via email to the wrong person.

When was the last time -- if ever -- that they've had a meaningful opportunity to do so?

The only term the squad has had in Congress involved a ~35 seat Democratic majority. If your caucus is 4 votes, you can't do a damn thing in that environment unless 30+ Democrats are already defecting. How often does that actually happen? My guess is not often at all.

Now if you have 8 members of your caucus and Democrats have only a slim majority, you could conceivably extract some concessions.

Well they don't speak out against her. She's going to be reinstated as speaker with no opposition.

I think Rho Kanna is the only one to actually push back recently.

Supposedly the progressive caucus was looking at actually acting like a caucus and forcing out the shitlibs. Put Jayapal in charge instead of splitting power. Start actually whipping votes.
