He played a big role in negotiating the paris climate agreement. This job will mostly be a foreign affairs type role so he's qualified for it in a way it would be hard to find in another person.
There are other appointments that relate to the domestic climate change response that matter more, re broader GND type stuff.

It was done by people trying to kill the site in its early days by spamming new with Kerry posts so noone could engage with any actual content. They may or may not have been the same people trying to smear the admins as transphobic anti-ML pedophiles with no basis for any of those things.
Already saw a white woman with a PhD say it should have been a woman of color in response to it, not like, someone who isn't anti climate science. Just a WoC not middle aged. Even though Kerry is like 75, I think she thought he was middle aged
