I feel it purposefully creates a divide between the bad and corrupt nazi cops and the good cop main characters and their allies who are portrayed as lovable, bumbling fools who constantly drop their gun. Basically, "yes, it is systemically bad, but these cops here, they are different, they've got a heart of gold and big sexual energy between each other."
I disagree. I think it is trying to show how "good" people enable fascism. Like the main character is totally nieve to what's going on and that means sometimes he goes after the Nazis, because he is doing his job, but he also enabled their rise by protecting the cops after they shot those communists. He is the epitome of a "good cop". Someone who just wants to fight the bad guys but he is too nieve to realize he is working with the bad guys.
Police Squad! was pretty good. But in a realistic cop show they would always accidentally turn off the camera just when it gets interesting.
The Sinner on Netflix is a bit of an odd one. It see to exist in a universe entirely seperate from our own where a troubled, sensitive detective goes out of his way to help not just victims but also perpetrators of crimes. First season has some similarities that might scratch the True Detective itch and also Bill Pullman has a beard and is into kinky shit.
I think RoboCop does a pretty good critiquing the police. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I think it's mostly about privatizing the police, but it's relevant, for sure.
Money heist aka La casa de papel, which is a way better name. Watch it in Spanish with subtitles though otherwise it will feel overacted.

Bosch is a great detective noir. It's not ACAB in the slightest but it's far and away the best noir adjacent show. It's fantastic enough to be the only "cop" show I let sneak past my copaganda filter. If you love LA Noir films its worth a watch.
