Gen Alpha is fucked, they're going to be against millions of people with 10 years of experience stocking shelves. And then they get to hear that they shouldn't have wasted their money going to trade school, shouldve been more responsible

Had to break it to my mom that the older people at her work, think 65+ falling asleep on forklifts, aren't there because they are greedy and want more money but they can't retire. Got her to realize she won't be able to retire either because inflation will make the money she saved up useless to. Really no one will retire and we will just keep competing for scrapes soon in a gig economy.

Revolution when please. At least I got all my family to hate the rich.

because inflation will make the money she saved up useless to.

If she has it in a fund she’ll be fine. It’ll outstrip inflation.

It's a program at her work that takes like a percentage of her pay each time don't know how much but she can't put away much.

There we go she some times describes it in spanish I think as an earnings account and it's conservative instead of aggressive. Point being most of the workers that retired or should retire there still have to work to survive because they don't have enough to survive on it alone.

Oh yeah it’s not gonna be enough, but it won’t be wiped out by inflation because it’s in the market not (typically) as cash.

I'll be surprised if retail makes it through the pandemic. It'll be dead by 2030 and the whole economy will be Amazon warehouses. Nevermind the next generation, what are we gonna do?

the billionaires are prepping their robots to take over all labor before we gain class consciousness and revolt. that way, they can live in their full automated luxury parasitism while we starve to death here.

Looking at how things look like in Poland, I'd say that at least over here, retail could very well be still alive by 2030.

Im over in the US of A and i figure that even if the retail market gets crippled, it's still got a few more decades left at least. People still go to stores, especially for food shopping

My thankfully brief interaction with the gig economy was one of the most depressing, harrowing experiences of my life. Just an absolutely bleak, fucking demoralizing shit-pit of precarity and suffering.

Gen Z will be overqualified for the jobs because of how much experience they have, so they’ll hire the Alphas so they can pay them less.

silver lining though, by the time alphas are all grown up and ready for the real world, we will either be living in socialism or barbarism. i give this system ten years till it collapses.

Nah trade schools will always be a path forward bc a lot of people aren't interested in the actual back breaking labor required for that shit. Jobs on fracking sites pay 80k at the lower end for people fresh out of high school for a reason.

What we will see is the further erosion of salaries as they relate to office work, with more and more labor being allocated to services that old af boomers need.

well, the thing is champ, all that back breaking labor won't be breaking any more backs. cuz robots will be taking over as many jobs as possible, even the non back breaking ones.
