Most of the USA other than outer-ring suburbs, wealthy enclaves, and gentrified downtowns already looks worse than what Americans picture in their heads what the USSR and Eastern Bloc looked like under communism. And even in the outer-ring suburbs, I'd argue all the big box stores, billboards, massive parking lots etc all are pretty damn depressing to be in themselves.

I live in a shitty little rural town and at least half of the population is on meth opiates or crack. Our buildings aren't falling apart, well other than the factories that were abandoned for China, but the populace is a great example of how shitty American conditions are. Especially considering there's hundreds of similar rural towns in basically the same situation just in my state alone.

Sounds like where I'm at. There are far too many houses in our little city that appear to be falling apart with siding that is falling off or has been obviously peeling for the last decade or more.

Yeah, I do like some brutalist designs, I just hate the uniformity and the unnecessary need for every building to be 100 stories tall that’s present in basically every city.

Maybe use whatever style of architecture that the eventual occupants of buildings like, rather than something that some architect wowed a central planning committee with?

Also wood sequesters carbon and is a great building material, unlike concrete which has a huge carbon footprint and is also a great building material. (Also wood comes from tree farms. Deforestation is mostly agriculturally motivated.)

This needs to have the fact that it’s Detroit in the image, otherwise chuds will pass it on without any context

Building on the right isn't even housing. It's a closed warehouse for the packard plant.
