Does anyone remember that weird webservice called ChaCha where they basically paid people to answer users' text message questions?
I remember once, when I was on a diet, I asked them how many calories was in an In N Out grilled cheese, and the responder recommended I eat their veggie burger instead.
Motherfucker, an In N Out "veggieburger" is what they call a bun with lettuce, onions, tomato, and spread.
But I couldn't reply that, as it would have went to another person.
yeah, it was hilarious how bad the responses would be... all you'd want is for someone to google something for you and they'd completely fuck up what you wanted them to google.
OH YEAH!!!!! I knew that nickname sounded super familiar. My old roommate made like $20 doing that and it was hilarious how little money you got per question. It was basically just googling shit for people too dumb to figure out how to do it via google's actual text message bridge back when twitter was also bridged over text and had a reason for a character limit
yes! i remember when it first started you could ask as many questions as you wanted, but after a while it got more popular and you could only ask 5 questions a day
All of my room mates got approved to answer questions and I just remember being so obnoxious about it.
Pretty fuckin' wild that it was the beginning of the end as far as independent contractor, gig economy garbage.
I have fond memories of goofing off and texting weird questions to Cha Cha on our flip phones with the high school drama troupe. My most distinct memory is the really weird kid asking Cha cha for a good way to masturbate and they recommended duct taping two mattresses together with a plastic bag in between.
I remember getting drunk and bothering them about free pizza coupons.
wait, no, go back, tell me about our aol chatroom analogue from the halcyon days of y2k
I like it because it helps the site break away from chapo trap house because honestly a lot of us barely talk about the podcast. Some peeps might unironically not know what it is.
The podcast is good and ought to act as a moral beacon for the degraded sinners of this site.
I had a shot of 65% chacha once. Burned like gasoline, but better than I expected.
The hacker known as cha-cha (pronounce it like ka-ka) has a certain ring to it
chacha reminds me of that search engine you could text for results lol
