If you check out lemm.ee and lemmy.ml you can see that we have a bulk of ~100 hexbear upvoters on new pushing socialist content to the top of the feeds. By banning reactionaries, they lose this bulk of upvotes and comments that make their reactionary posts relevant (despite being controversial). I've even noticed a shift in instances not federated with hexbear posting more socialist leaning content due to this influence.

The tankie cabal stays winning

On a related note it's been really nice to see a greater share of the people popping in here with non-hexbear usernames be comrades and the reactionary/lib share shrink

It's the difference between asking a question because you are curious and asking a question so you can jump-start an argument about something you have already decided.

        Usually.

It's that blurry boundary between actual earnest questions and "just asking questions" which is also known as JAQing off.

"Why do you say liberals are right-wing? Isn't the conflict in the US between conservatives and liberals?" is often an earnest question that can open minds if it's answered carefully.

A somewhat exaggerated example of the other side of that blurry boundary would be something like the following:

"Um, I hate to say it, but let's be honest here. Liberals are the sane members of the left wing. Unlike the tankies that are unhinged and deranged, liberals are the adults in the room that know how to get shit done. Can you kindly prove me wrong without any biased sources that use a pro-Chinese/Russian narrative? SIGH, I didn't think so. It seems logic and reason are irregardlessly unheeded here. I find it funny and amusing and ironic that this place is a hivemind of bots in an echo chamber of vitriol. Good luck in life." smuglord

Unlike your stupid leftist journalists, my objective liberal journalists have no beliefs at all and are completely unbiased. The most unbiased source in the world is the state department, which also produces my favorite flavor of boot polish.

"I am just annoyed by all the political bullshit these days! I just want to play video games about shooting us-foreign-policy people to avenge my fridged wife and/or rescue my estranged teenaged daughter from us-foreign-policy people and talk about how epic the treat is without anyone bringing politics into it." galaxy-brain

How hard do they double down?

How often to they "liberal" all over the floor?

How many times did they get a gentle talking too and then continue to do shitty things? (in recent memory the DroneRights account)

they're gonna post this thread on lemmy and complain lol

worth noting that 1) socialism is good and should be encouraged, and 2) the stuff being pushed is not tankie stuff afaik, just basic socialist messaging

      1. the stuff being pushed is not tankie stuff afaik, just basic socialist messaging

      That doesn't matter.

It's like when freeze-gamer gate, in some ways the ideological start of the modern western fascist movement in its current form, got that mad that Anita Sarkeesian did a video series with some basic entry-level feminist analysis of bideo bames.

Full confession: I was still lingering on 4ch!n at the time, primarily in the /tg/ board (that got sewage overflow from /pol/ regularly just like everywhere else on that site), and I saw the "we are not your private army" mantra instantly become "we are now your private army" once Eron Gjoni demanded one as a petty manchild revenge against Zoe Quinn. I was even there for when the name swapped from the misogynistic dog whistly "Five Guys" name to the more universally marketable "G!merGate" name, largely because of chud actor Adam Baldwin's suggestion. I was also there when they congratulated each other for coming up with the retcon of "it's actually about ethics in g!mes journalism" bullshit claim that was picked up and ran with for years as a smoke screen that was disgustingly effective at throwing naive liberals off the trail of misogynistic stalking.

4chan's edgelords took pride on not being anyone's private army then went all in on being a private army. They stood for nothing, not even standing for nothing. Fascist cowards.

So the optimal way to game the algorithm is: have a socialist post, but with liberal comments. Then have hexbears dunk on the liberal comments in the socialist post to push the post further. But invisible liberal commenters (to us) will also increase engagement with their comments, these invisible liberals can be made by banning people or defederation.

By banning liberal posters, but not necessarily all commenters, we end up with more socialist posts on the main feed. Commenting in general also just increases the likelihood it hits the top of the page and we like commenting.

So far we have banned most of the big liberal posters, so this is causing socialist content to go higher up in the feed because we are indirectly flooding hexbears into a limited number of socialist threads, causing those few socialist threads to stay up for days at a time as activity continues to increase, thus increasing the amount and staying power of socialist content on lemmy in general very-smart
