It's rules are simple and easy to learn, and yet it requires both tactical and strategic thinking. Lately I've been distracting myself from the meaninglessness of it all by trying to up my rank on OGS so I may be biased.
i started getting into board games this year, though i tend to focus on games that are good solo since the world is the way it is and all my friends are having kids. I bought a Go board but havent tried it out yet. Ill have to convince my gf to play me.
A cool thing about Go is that you can try to solve "puzzles" like in chess. There are books, but also lots of online resources too.
It's cool, but until they replace the pieces with tiny trains I'm afraid Ticket to Ride will remain the best board game.

I have no idea how the fuck you play Go, but I watched an anime about some kid that gets possessed by a Go ghost and becomes a pro. Overall 8/10 experience.

I actually did that the other day and everyone else got pissed. I went to the loosing players and bought equity into the properties and houses (I'll give you $200 if you build houses on x property and don't charge me rent there and then give me half your earnings)
I always insist on playing with the proper rules. That way you can buy all of the houses but never upgrade to hotels and make sure that no one else can upgrade their properties.
Settlers of Catan is better. Better graphics, more mechanics, and more players are allowed to play.
Graphics and extra mechanics are bourgeois extravagance.
Yu-gi-Oh has banned half of the cards, so I think that's the best. Fucking with g*mers is always good.
