Just use your browser to install the page on your home screen, works perfectly for me.
Only thing missing is push notifications, which I am OK with not having because I get enough as it is.
Feels like a mobile app if you do it this way without needing to install a mobile app.
safari keeps "logging me out" and no way to log back in.
All non-jailbroken iPhone web browsers have to use WebKit, so they’re all reskins of Safari. They’re only useful if you need something from their ecosystems like synchronisation of tabs, reading lists, bookmarks etc. or if you prefer their UIs.
Any recommendation below is ultimately a recommendation for Safari.
I use firefox nightly but I used to use chrome and it worked too
Why's every single website gotta be a damn app these days? Soundcloud, Reddit and about a million other places are constantly pestering me to download some bespoke app for an "optimal experience." Fuck off, I couldn't download your shit even if I wanted to, my memory's full and I've got to keep deleting the cache from my browser to stop Android complaining about running out of space
Naturally you can't install apps on an SD card either
Turning a website into an app allows websites to mine your phone for data to sell. :the-more-you-know-png:
I agree that websites should be sites first, but when I used to use r*ddit I preferred to use a free software app such as Slide rather than the website because it performs better.
I can definitely understand using some unofficial software to make these sites less of a pain in the ass to use.
Youtube Vanced is :pog-dolphin:
There is one for android. It's not perfect but it's better than nothing. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lemmy
The dev said he'd remove the captcha like a month ago and never got round to it. Wish I could log in. Good for browse only atm
I use Hermit on android, it lets me make a webpage basically into an app and add it to my home screen
