So are we calling it the Gabagool virus or the Fredo flu?

I'll laugh my ass off if it turns out to be from Italy and all the rhetoric from chuds about how the country that "created" the virus needs to pay disappears overnight. Honestly they probably just won't believe it at all. Yeah that's more likely.
This is really more about how Italy is a governance shitshow. Chuds who think this is China doing some thirty-dimensional chess genetic engineering gambit are still going to believe it. There's a less mutated version found in India and Bangladesh too, it'll be interesting to see what comes of that. Either way, it's gonna be a good excuse for Italian right-wing parties to ramp up the anti-immigrant rhetoric. The main right wing party are probably gonna have to go from having to do a coalition with the socdems to ... who knows, maybe being able to form a government with the party that crawled out of the rubble of neo-fash movements.
...Does no one read the article? There's a Shanghai study saying there's evidence it came originally from India-Bangladesh, and everyone else saying it may still be from Wuhan, but had spread and arrived in Italy earlier than first known. And it's all inconclusive/speculative, as more and better data is being gathered.
The fact that it got to Italy early doesn't provide evidence it came from Italy. Patient zero got it from an animal - and the animals in China have the most evidence against them at the moment. India/Bangladesh are apparently second in line.
Fair enuff ... but think of those of us with no sense of humor, jfc
Peasants be blaming the Mongols for the Black Death when they should be blaming the Genoans 🍝
link to the CDC article, since people will automatically assume CHYNA is lying

We describe the earliest evidence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in a patient in Italy, ≈3 months before Italy’s first reported COVID-19 case. These findings, in agreement with other evidence of early COVID-19 spread in Europe, advance the beginning of the outbreak to late autumn 2019
You China apologists are fuckin mad and as anti-science as climate skeptics.
What sort of Italian wet markets are we talking about with bat/pangolin interactions? Where were the massive Milan outbreaks that predate Wuhan?
can't tell if joke or srs,
So here's an italian study from a published journal from a month ago saying it probably originated there
https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/0300891620974755?journalCode=tmja
Our results indicate that SARS-CoV-2 circulated in Italy earlier than the first official COVID-19 cases were diagnosed in Lombardy, even long before the first official reports from the Chinese authorities, casting new light on the onset and spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
That is not what that article is saying. It's saying that there were cases in Italy before either the Italian or Chinese governments were aware of the virus, not before the virus was in China.
What do you think of this one?
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33292923/
None of these blood tests have placed the virus in another country before the first confirmed case in Wuhan. On top of that, there have not been retroactive blood tests, like this one, done on the population of Wuhan, which would in all likelihood date the virus back even further.
why do you, a random poster on the internet, want Italian scientists to be wrong so bad and blame China
There's nothing wrong about what the Italian scientists are saying, you're just extrapolating a conclusion that the results don't support.
And I'm obviously not blaming China for anything because I don't subscribe to the idiotic narrative that the country where the virus came from is somehow responsible for it.
i just don't get why ppl want so bad to not listen to scientists when CHINA is related :///////////////
also i literally didn't say anything other than quote studies. I even said "probably"
That shows your ignorance on understanding antibodies.
This paper has not been peer reviewed, it has been published on an internal journal of INT, which editor is an author. And most likely they're just seeing cross-reactivity in the T-Cells of other corona viruses.
Those sneaky italian scientistis, always trying to take the blame for a pandemic for no reason!
