It's a bit more varied and complicated than that, but when you look at the bottom line, yes. Foreign workers are often marginalised in order to be more easily exploited, or as a scapegoat for shitty worker rights for native people, as a way to divide a burgeoning labour movement etc.
When I did my work permit interview, the forms I needed to fill out had questions like "have you been part of a terrorist organisation or do you know people who have been" and so on. Mind you, at the time Bulgaria had been a EU member state for, like, 7 years. As a Slav with a massive chip on my shoulder I think we have a bit more cache when it comes to the Oppression Olympics ;-) - but for sure the Romani deserve priority recognition before Slavs. However, I think the Romani population of the US is too small, and this organization seems US-focused. From a nazi point of view Slavs weren't white and since discrimination against people rendered by others as Slavs (or substitute terms "low wage polish laborers") including polish people didn't stop after the Red Army freed us from the shackles of Nazi Fascism there is still discrimination ongoing. This means that there is sense to the classification as "similar experiences to..." as someone who was in the 'othered' group, even though the classification in the first place didn't make sense and was just used for evil goals.
Naturally this intersects with capitalism. The migrant workers with their low wages are often cast aside from bourgeois society. After the so called reunification and fall of real existing socialism the people in the "developed" (read political economic strong) Western Germany were importing humans as laborers, often just across the border, Polish, from Turkey, etc. which contributed to repression against those groups (cause capitalism, low wages, value etc.). In the meantime there were pogroms against "Vietnamese" migrant workers who were partially deported.
This is like when I saw "Franco" as a racial/ethnic option on some college applications I filled out up here in New England.
I mean it's true, Slavic people are closer to Iranians than they are to regular ass white folk, with a long history of oppression and struggle in an Anglocentric era. In a modern, American/Anglo/Western context though they're still considered white and 100% reap all the benefits that white privilege provides, so this is pretty stupid.
