Realistically, probably 10% or so of those 150k were actually active in the sub.
the counter stopped counting
Did it really? I vaguely remember being amused that it kept going up during quarantine, which is when I joined.
Let's also remember r/ChapoTrapHome! It lasted for a week or so longer before it too got banned. In that time it helped many people including me find the Ark discord.
AHS staunch refusal to gun on stupidpol made me lose faith on the whole thing.
On a lesser note, there also was u/chapotrapzone, which was basically an account controlled by everyone in the discord VC at once for about ten minutes until it got banned
have you noticed how so many people on reddit just lie about /r/chapotraphouse? they say some of the craziest stuff about it like how everyone were crazy tankies who stalin never did anything wrong, or that we were all stupidpol brocialists, or that we were racist. probably even more but i barely go on reddit as much as i used to so i can't remember that well.
i found chapo chat because i got mad at the people blatantly lying about how the sub was and started searching around for chapo stuff and found people talking about chapo caht on reddit.
My favorite is when they complain about the chapo brigades, as if dog-piling a stupid r/neoliberal thread is the equivalent of waltzing into their own homes and kicking their dog or something. Total reddit brain
god yeah that was one of them. if you ever posted in chapo once now every single thread you comment in is a "brigade"
I did threaten to fight them if I ever met one in person the day the sub closed down. My bad.
tbh the first thing I saw when i first looked at the subreddit was a picture of a headline of someone pissing on soldiers graves and everyone in comments was just pasting crab emojis. And at first i thought all of you were complete idiots and "extremist" but few months later and I think pissing on the veterans graves is maybe not so bad actually
I actually kinda can't believe I made it over. I saw the posts about things being banned and looked into it a bit and there was like, nothing there. Some random post making the claim. But for whatever reason I joined the discord anyway. And then when this site was created I didn't want to cross contaminate my username but also didn't want to think of something else so I didn't sign up for a while until I decided I didn't care lol.
If you forgive me in practicing optimism, I feel like this bodes well for leftism. Even in the face of opposition on all fronts, participation is growing/persisting. Sure, we're degenerate posters, but we're degenerate posters who mean well.
i was a lemmy evangelist and knew chapo was going to die so naturally i went full apeshit and deleted my personal social media accounts just to promote this place
And then my dumbass got mod like I know shit about anything. :party-sicko: I am a half-faded memory of the cool kids who posted in r/CTH
Are there any previous mods here, that would know the number of active subscribed users before it was closed? People who have multiple accounts, but subd to chapo on each would inflate the numbers. of subscribers.
You can't defeat the protracted people's shitposting.
just curious what the ratio is like for r/thedonald and now thedonald.
winlose?Pretty sure they had much more success than we did. They essentially shut down their subreddit leaving only a pinned post to thedonald.win months before they were banned iirc.
