As we mark the 50th anniversary of the horrific coup in Chile, we must make clear that we regret our involvement and commit to supporting Chilean democracy
Apologize for the coup in Pakistan last week or fuck off
This is really it for me. They trot out their acknowledgements and apologies decades later when it hardly matters anymore, with zero restoration.
We all acknowledge what the CIA did exactly 25 years ago was bad.
But thank god the force of freedom and democracy put a stop to that 25 years ago.
Modern activities are classified for 25 years but you can trust us we stopped doing that stuff 25 years ago.
they gaslight the victims until they're dead, and then they console the grandchildren with a half assed "whoopsy daisy. our bad. we're better now though! (trust us)"
ShowYup. These fucks use the horror they unleashed on one country to obfuscate their continued torture of another. Hey wanna make amends? dont call the Capitol a "vaunted temple to democracy" or whatever.
Also we just supported a coup in Peru that is still murdering indigenous people, and these progressives did jack shit when Chile was in crisis and there was the push for a new constitution. They can take their performative shit and shove it
An apology doesn't do anyone any fucking good anyway. I suppose it's better than not apologizing, but it's making an empty gesture even emptier when you know it won't pass.
Reminder that AOC suported Juan Guaidó and backed American intervention in Venezuela so hard that she was praised by Fox News for it.

We should get an aoc fact bot.
The amount of cringe from the met gala was enough for me to ignore woman for ever.

Wtf. I have no illusions about AOC being good, but I guess I at least thought she was better than this. Would seem like an unforced error for any actual leftist, as I can't think of any compelling political reason to support the coup. It's not like Venezuelan compradors have their own AIPAC.
We're sowwy we destabiwized your countwy
We pwomise we won't do it again... for another five years
commit to supporting Chilean democracy
Please no. You've done enough.
Have they? I thought half the joke with Bernie/AOC was how they were never let anywhere near any policy control levers.
What I meant that the USA should not try to intervene in any other country let alone a third world country under the pretext of "democracy" or some other bullshit like that. They have done enough damage to Chile along and unless they wanna pay reparations they should stay away from them.
I'm not seeing anything in this suggesting they're calling for foreign intervention anywhere
Sanders and AOC Unveil Revolution
i read it like this and thought this would be a very funny satirical article
: "After their death, attempts are made to convert them into harmless icons, to canonize them, so to say, and to hallow their names to a certain extent for the “consolation” of the oppressed classes and with the object of duping the latter, while at the same time robbing the revolutionary theory of its substance, blunting its revolutionary edge and vulgarizing it."
Will they even mention the word socialism? Every time liberals mention ‘democratically elected’ leaders in Latin America who get despised, they tend to leave out their ideology. I’m not gonna read it cause I’m tired of these two.
absolutely love how the MOST that the "left" in amerikka can do is TRY to declassify documents from a tragedy that happened 50 years ago, killed thousands and can be laid at the feet of amerikka by like 99% certainty
Death to, and I cannot emphasise this enough,
Declassifying information on it would be helpful, so it probably won't happen . . .
Sanders and AOC Unveil Resolution to further waste everyone's fucking time and refuse to support the class interests of the proletariat in the 21st century.
