That's oddly endearing, and SOOOOOOO much better than what a lot of people are subjected to.

Dare I call it, wholesome, even. Not ideal, but homie is trying there.

Because being a guy doesn't necessarily mean you want something this horrendously tacky

There's 2 types of dudes: Dudes who will put this hat on and then mimmick the sound and motion of accelerating a dirt bike, and dudes who will do that same thing but ironically to mock the kids they knew in highschool who did that unironically

Perhaps Mountain Dew race car hat is the moms boyfriends way that he sees masculinity and hes trying to share that with her trans kid. Thats really sweet to me.

Its a funny hat too maybe its okay to wear the funny hat

Wellll, I'm not sure about that. I would say that's actually one of the core tenants.

Catch me in that hat with my I paused my game to be here shirt and cargo shorts at the anime convention to get a heroic dose of gender euphoria

Who among us has not been in the checkout line of a Kwik-Stop and felt a sudden sense of pride and appreciation for our girlfriend's trans son

I can absolutely see myself buying a gift like that for a trans guy, not because I think it's a good gift, but because it's such a comically stereotypical Man Hat, and it kinda rocks with how over-the-top tacky it is. It works as both a genuine affirmation and a funny gag gift.

I gotta say, I don't have much insight into the trans experience at all but this tacky gift really does seem sweet. The intention of the gift is more important than the gift itself

It's the thought that counts. Trans people barely even understand gender, mum's boyfriend is trying and that's what matters.

Trans people barely even understand gender

I'm curious if you meant to say non-trans. I'm not saying I disagree, this just isn't a take I see a lot as it currently is written.

I meant it more like "Trans people barely even understand gender (even though they think about it more than most people), how is mum's boyfriend supposed to understand it"

Honestly that's awesome. I don't even drink mountain dew or watch NASCAR, but I'd still wear it in that situation.
