Socialism with Chinese characteristics != Maoism

(Although tbf Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, is a move back closer to MLM after dengism)

Of course, the party has shifted in ideology somewhat, but it's still same party. It hasn't seen THAT radical of a shift in the last several decades

I sort of disagree, Deng's market reforms where a major shift in not just policy but the ideology of the party leadership for a time, although I agree that the party as a whole has remained committed to socialism

Getting information about any country the US has an adversarial relationship with from US media makes you less informed. PBS recently aired a segment that had a Maduro official saying that people who don't vote for Maduro won't eat, implying the government would withhold food from non Maduro voters. The comment, in context, was the official saying that Women say, if you don't vote, you don't eat. What PBS didn't mention, probably out of ignorance of Venezuelan culture, is that eating doesn't only mean consuming food, it also means to fornicate. If you don't vote, you don't fuck is what PBS was airing, which is kind of an own.

Ah yes. The leader who's country has more billionaires in the world is so much like Mao. Only here did I ever learn you need a billionaire class to be a socialist country.
